Cruise Ship Passenger Medevaced near Bahamas

The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old man suffering heart attack-like symptoms from the cruise ship Carnival Sunshine Tuesday approximately 46 miles north of the Bahamas.   Coast Guard 7th District watchstanders received a medevac request at approximately 7:20 p.m. Monday. Watchstanders launched an Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew stationed at Great Inagua, Bahamas and embarked the patient and nurse at approximately 12 a.m.  The man was transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital at approximately 1 a.m.

Jet Skier Rescued Near Miami

The Coast Guard rescued a jet skier Friday 25 miles east of Miami. Watch standers with the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center received a personal locating beacon (PLB) notification at 12:59 p.m. and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew. The rescue crew arrived on scene at 1:23 p.m., hoisted the jet skier and brought him to Jackson Memorial Hospital with no reported injuries and in stable condition. “Because this mariner had a PLB and activated it, our rescue crews were able to quickly and accurately locate and rescue him,” said Capt. Todd Coggeshall, Seventh Coast Guard District chief of incident management.

USCG Hoists Injured From Bimini Superfast Ferry

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami hoisted an injured man Wendesday night from the Bimini Superfast ferry approximately 10 miles off the coast of Bimini, the Bahamas. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard 7th District command center received the request for a medical evacuation at 6:20 p.m., Wednesday. The 35-year-old man aboard the Bimini Superfast ferry had reportedly suffered a head injury. An MH-65 Dolphin search and rescue helicopter from Miami was launched and arrived on scene at 7:15 p.m. The injured man was hoisted into the helciopter and then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Coast Guard Medevacs Injured Man from Cargo Ship

According to a report by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), a man was medically evacuated late Tuesday evening after suffering a head injury aboard a 797-foot cargo ship 103 miles west of Key West, Fla. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West command center received a report at approximately 7 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the OBO carrier SKS Tana concerning a 28-year-old male requiring urgent medical care. A boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Key West and a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., responded to the report.
