STX France Gets Contracts for Europa 2

STX France received an order to build a luxury cruise ship, the EUROPA 2. The new ship is being acquired by a third-party proprietary company outside the TUI group at the French STX shipyard and will enter service in 2013. The vessel, that will complement the EUROPA in the fleet of German cruise operator Hapag Lloyd-Cruises, will be designed and built according to latest international regulations and delivered in 2013. For STX France this new contract represents about 2.5 million working hours. Construction will start in September 2011. "We are proud to be chosen to build the new cruise liner in our Saint-Nazaire shipyard and we are delighted to contribute to the expansion of the luxury cruise activities of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises"…

NCL, STX Europe Agree on F3 Project

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and STX France Cruise SA, STX Europe's French shipyard, have reached an agreement and are moving forward with the construction of the F3 cruise ship project. NCL and STX Europe have agreed to revise the original F3 order. STX France Cruise is now building one F3 ship at 150,000 tons with a total of 4,200 passenger berths, representing the largest ship in NCL's fleet. This will mean a continuation of the original hull which is currently in the early phases of construction, with delivery set for late May 2010, as originally scheduled.

Landtman Named New Yard Manager

Aker Yards has a clear ambition to strengthen the operational focus in the business area Cruise & Ferries in Aker Yards, and has decided to strengthen the management team. The new manager for the yards in Finland, Martin Landtman, will together with the manager for the yards in France and the manager for sales and marketing report directly to the CEO. "We want to make sure that we are a profitable and leading shipbuilder also in the long term. With the new management model for Cruise & Ferries, we are combining the skills of three of the international shipbuilding industry's best top managers. As part of this, we are of course very pleased that Martin Landtman has joined our executive management team", says Svein Sivertsen, chairman of Aker Yards' board of directors.

Aker Yards and Alstom Complete Transaction

Aker Yards and ALSTOM announced on January 4 the intention to join forces in shipbuilding. The transaction was concluded during a signature ceremony in Paris May 31. Reference is made to the company disclosure dated January 4 in respect of the establishment of a new company consisting of ALSTOM's shipyards in Saint-Nazaire and Lorient. All the necessary approvals from authorities have now been received, and all other conditions have been lifted. In connection with the closing of the transaction the new company has received a committed offer of 550m Euro in construction financing to finish its current backlog of cruise ships. The financing is underwritten by a syndicate of four international banks.
