GCT (USA) President & CEO James Devine Retires

Global Container Terminals (GCT) has announced the retirement of James J. Devine, President & CEO of GCT USA, at the end of June, 2014. Devine’s retirement brings a distinguished 13-year tenure with GCT to a close, where he was instrumental in revitalizing the US operations. “Jim is an exceptional leader who has capably navigated the company through challenging market conditions. GCT’s success is a testament to his tireless work and vision,” said Stephen Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer of GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. “We are grateful for innumerable contributions.” In the coming years, Devine will serve as a senior advisor to continue supporting the strategic growth of GCT USA.

Giant Container Terminal Expansion for U.S. Port

Global Container Terminals Inc. Global Container Terminals Inc., a leading North American marine terminal operator with facilities on both coasts, has unveiled final plans for a multi-million dollar expansion project to develop a 70-acre technologically advanced container terminal on the Bayonne, NJ, waterfront. When complete, Global Terminal at Port Jersey will be the most advanced marine terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The expanded facility, scheduled to open in 2014, will improve the competitiveness of the Port of New York and New Jersey with a world-class terminal designed to handle the largest container vessels at greater throughput density per acre.

CII Connie Event Awards Scholarships

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute, which for nearly 50 years has provided education in the international trade and transportation industry, awarded 10 scholarships to students committed to making a career in the field. The awards were made during the annual Connie Awards luncheon that honored James E. Butcher, Chairman of Höegh Autoliners, and Evergreen Vice Group Chairman, Captain S.Y. Kuo. The event was held at The Newark Club. Steven Blust, former chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, heads the scholarship program. Horizon Offshore Names Frank as Chairman of the Board

Horizon Offshore, Inc. announced the board of directors has elected J. Louis Frank as chairman of the board of the Houston-based marine construction company. Replacing outgoing chairman, James Devine, a UK national, with Frank, a U.S. citizen, allows Horizon to meet certain U.S. regulatory requirements relevant to a recently awarded contract. Mr. Devine remains a member of the board of directors. J. Louis "Corky" Frank joined the board of directors at Horizon in July 2001. Frank has extensive oil and gas and management experience, having held numerous positions of responsibility over 43 years with Marathon Oil Company, including service as president of Marathon Ashland Petroleum. He retired from Marathon in 2001.
