James P. Colie & Assoc. Refurbishes Sovereign of the Seas

Marine interior contractor, James P. Colie & Associates, announced it is near completion of interior refurbishment work on Sovereign of the Seas for Royal Caribbean International. The dry-dock was May 3 - May 21, 1999 at Atlantic Marine in Mobile, Ala. A crew of 100 from James P. Colie & Associates replaced the interiors of the Windjammer Café, 15 public restrooms, Ship Shape Center and the stair landings from Deck 4 to Deck 12. In the Windjammer Café, structural modifications were made to enclose the 8,000-sq.-ft. outdoor dining area, install new automatic sliding doors and new aft entrances from the pool deck. The Delaware River Pilots Association recently contracted with Carey's Diesel to repower a vessel with a pair of Isotta Fraschini marine diesel engines, rated at 550 hp @ 2,400 rpm. This is the third vessel the Pilots Association has chosen to repower using Isotta Fraschini engines. The first Isotta Fraschini repowers were two 56,000-lb. vessels named Wilmington and Delaware. Wilmington's two 8V-72T Detroit Diesel two-cycle, eight cylinder engines were replaced with two V1308T2 MLH Isotta Fraschini four-stroke, V-8 cylinder marine diesel engines. Delaware's two 8V-92 Detroit Diesel two-cycle, eight cylinder engines were replaced with a pair of V1312T2 MLH Isotta Fraschini four-stroke, V-12 cylinder marine diesel engines.

Marine Contractor Completes Maasdam Renovation in 10 Days

Marine contractor James P.Colie & Associates recently completed the turnkey renovation of several rooms aboard Maasdam for Holland America Line Westours at Atlantic Marine. The project took only 10 days. Working on the design, purchasing and construction for the Maasdam project, designers and craftsmen from James P. Colie & Associates planned and outfitted Club Hal, which includes KidZone, a children's room that converts to a conference room on Deck 7, and Wave Runner, a newly constructed teen area on Deck 12 complete with a computer area, disco, inter-active video arcade, theater and restrooms. Wave runner is a new 2,400-sq-ft. structure added to the ship by the shipyard. James P.

Celebrity Selects James P. Colie & Associates

James P. Colie & Associates will take on the refurbishment of several public spaces on Celebrity Cruises' Zenith, during the vessel's drydock at the Virginia locale of Newport News Shipbuilding this coming October. The company, based in Hollywood, Fla., was chosen by Celebrity as turnkey contractor for the Zenith refit project managing all aspects including: structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fabrication and interior outfitting details.

James P. Colie & Associates Selected for Upgrades

Marine interior contractor, James P. Colie & Associates was selected for refurbishment of Crown Princess and Sky Princess. On Crown Princess, craftsmen refurbished the 10,000-sq.-ft. café on the Lido Deck and building a new children's center at Cascade General Shipyard in Portland, Oregon. A team of nearly 50 craftsmen made the necessary removals in the café and fully outfit a new window-enclosed structure. All new finishes were installed throughout the café including wallcoverings, flooring, seating, cabinetry and millwork, buffet lines, dance floor and stage. The forward entrances were expanded and modified for better traffic flow and air conditioning control. Above the café, a vertical extension of the café structure wasadded, creating a new 2,000-square-ft.

Celebrity Cruises Selects James P. Colie & Assoc. for Major Refit of Zenith

In one of the largest interior renovation projects in the history of James P. Colie & Associates, the company announced it will refurbish several large and luxurious public spaces on Zenith for Celebrity Cruises during a drydocking at Newport News Shipbuilding in October 1999. James P. Colie & Associates will be the turnkey contractor for the Zenith refit project, managing all aspects such as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fabrication and the fine interior outfitting details. The areas to be refurbished include the AquaSpa, Cova Café and adjacent Cova Shop, Windsurf Café, Martini Bar, Michael's Club, library, card room, art gallery for Park West at Sea, gift shop, Rendez-Vous Square, disco/DJ club and upgrading all shops.

James P. Colie Completes Cruise Ships Refurbish

Marine interior contractor James P. Colie & Associates has completed installation of its Internet Cafes for Royal Caribbean cruise vessels, the most recent on the Legend of the Seas, which was scheduled for a December 1, 1999 completion. Dubbed Royal Caribbean Online, the new areas boast IBM computer equipment providing passengers with Internet access while cruising. James P. Colie staff installed wallpaper, carpeting, owner-supplied equipment and new custom-built cabinetry in the 600 - 1,200 sq. ft. rooms containing six to 10 terminals each. The company also refurbished the main dining room and purser's desk onboard Royal Princess during a drydock in the fall of 1999 at Baltimore Marine Industries.
