On December 5, a ceremony was held at Electric Power University (EPU) in Hanoi, Vietnam, to mark the start of the fourth year Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) is providing instruction in nuclear engineering at this educational institution. The ceremony was attended by numerous guests and dignitaries, including: Nguyen Cuong Lam, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN); representatives from Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Education and Training; and Mr. Michio Daito, Counselor at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. Representing EPU was President Dam Xuan Hiep, while MHI was represented by Masato Iida, General Manager of the Nuclear Energy Systems Division, Energy & Environment Domain.

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (MES) and UBI Tower Sole Member Limited (UBI Tower) established the joint venture company named MES-UBI Heavy Industries Company Limited (MES-UBI) which manufactures the pressure vessels installed in the refinery and petrochemical plants with obtaining the Vietnamese government approval dated at April 23, 2014, then MES-UBI started the operation from the beginning of August 2014. On August 1, 2014 in Hanoi, MES-UBI organized the opening ceremony to cerebrate the operation start, inviting the Japanese embassy in Vietnam, Ministry of Investment and Trading in Vietnam, Hai Duong People’s committee and more than 60 companies as the guests.

The new NYK-TDG campus opens its doors to 180 students at its Calamba location (about 50 km south of Manila). Cai Mep-Thi Vai international port in the coastal southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau inaugurated. The team of Japanese experts who flew into the country to help assess the the damage caused by the sinking of the M/T Solar 1 and the resulting oil spill said oil continues to leak out from the tanker, a statement from the Japanese embassy said Tuesday. History recorded that five midget submarines deployed as advance forces to attack capital ships in Pearl Harbor had failed to inflict any damage. By the use of digital photo imagery combined with forensic engineering analysis technology, the results of an analysis on a single photograph taken during the 1941 attack will change that view.
