Fincantieri's Ancona Lays Keel for Seven Seas Splendor

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has held a keel laying ceremony for Seven Seas Splendor, the second cruise ship being built for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, a brand of the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. The ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard on June 28, 2018. The delivery is scheduled for 2020. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Jason Montague, President and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, who was welcomed by Giovanni Stecconi, the Fincantieri Ancona yard manager. Like her sister ship “Seven Seas Explorer”, delivered by Fincantieri at the Sestri Ponente (Genova) shipyard in 2016, the new vessel will be 55,000 gross tonnes with accommodation for 750 passengers. She will be built using the very latest in environmental protection technologies.

Regent Seven Seas Refurbs Three Ships

Top luxury cruise line Regent Seven Seas Cruises says it's investing $125 million to renovate three of its ships. Beginning with Seven Seas Navigator (built in 1999)  this spring, the public spaces and suites of the Regent fleet will be updated to match the style of the new Seven Seas Explorer, which is scheduled to launch this July. Regent says the update will provide guests with a consistent look and feel across all of the line's ships. The Seven Seas Voyager will be refit in late 2016 and Seven Seas Mariner in the spring of 2017. “Seven Seas Navigator is one of our most beloved ships, so it’s fitting that she is the first to undergo this extraordinary refurbishment,” said Jason Montague, president and chief operating officer for Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Seven Seas Explorer Spaciously Intimate

The cruise ship being billed as "the most luxurious ship ever built" will also feature some of the largest cabins  and balconies afloat. The suites on the Seven Seas Explorer, a cruise ship coming next summer, will be distinguished by some of the largest balconies at sea said Jason Montague, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Through August 2015, the 750-passenger vessel, which debuts in July 2016, is about halfway through the construction process. Montague hosted a preview of two of the most prevalent suite models here at the Fincantieri ship yard where the Explorer is being built. Two categories of cabins are the 332-square-foot Concierge Suite, which is one of the more affordable options, and the 450-square-foot Penthouse Suite.

'Most Luxurious Ship Ever'

Regent says the luxury ship, Seven Seas Explorer, will have the highest space ratios and one of the highest staff-to-guest ratios in the cruise industry. The 56,000-ton, 750-passenger Seven Seas Explorer, is due to debut in summer 2016. Its wow factor is a spacious two-bedroom suite that comes with a daily price tag of $5,000 per person. The ship is being designed to be "recognized industry-wide as the most luxurious ship ever," Regent President Jason Montague says in a statement. The new luxury suite, called the Regent Suite, covers more than 3,800 square feet and comes with a dining area, its own sauna and steam room, a spa treatment area and a glass-covered veranda with views toward the horizon over the ship's bow, a company statement says.
