Ignazio Messina & C Adds Secondhand Containership to Its Fleet

Ignazio Messina & C announced it has taken delivery of a secondhand 4,400 TEU containership, now renamed Jolly Clivia.Built in 2010 at the South Korea's Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, the vessel measures 262 meters in length by 32 meters in width, and was previously owned by a German company.The ship will now set sail from Singapore toward Europe with scheduled calls at Mundra (India), Jebel Ali Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Karachi (Pakistan), and is expected to arrive in Genoa at the end of March.

US Transfers Three Patrol Ships to the Egyptian Navy

A significant element of the U.K. government’s levelling up plan to create thousands of jobs, regenerate more deprived areas and attract overseas investors is the introduction of freeports. These special low-tax trading zones allow all kinds of businesses to trade.Under the U.K. model, freeports can encompass two different kinds of sites. Vitol Enters Jebel Ali Bunker Market

Vitol Bunkers said has extended its bunkering services to Jebel Ali—the largest container port in the Middle East—and to Dubai's Port Rashid Cruise Terminal, from July 2022.According to Vitol, the move will help it to address the supply requirements of strategic marine customers in key Middle Eastern locations.Vessels visiting Jebel Ali will have access to Vitol Bunkers’ marine products produced at the Vitol-owned FRCL refinery in Fujairah.  These include a range of marine fuel grades as well as bio-marine fuels for customers wishing to mitigate their carbon emissions.

MOL, TotalEnergies Complete First First Ship Refuelling with Biofuel in Singapore

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and TotalEnergies Marine Fuels have completed the first refuelling of a ship with biofuels in Singapore, the shipping company said on Wednesday.The ship, a car and truck carrier named Heroic Ace, was refueled using biofuel supplied by TotalEnergies via a ship-to-ship transfer on June 11, MOL said in a statement.The biofuel blend that was used in the trial comprised of very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) blended with 20% second-generation, waste-based and ISCC-certified used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME), MOL said.

Near-term Trading Environment Positive, DP World Says

In June, the United States imposed sanctions on half a dozen oil tankers managed by established shipping firms. It was a major escalation of American attempts to choke off Venezuela’s oil trade.Within weeks, a little-known company based in the United Arab Emirates took over management of several tankers that had been shipping Venezuelan oil. Novatek Ships First LNG Cargo to UAE

Russian gas company Novatek has said it has shipped its first LNG Cargo to the United Arab Emirates.Novatek said Friday that the cargo was shipped from the Yamal LNG project by its subsidiary NOVATEK Gas & Power Asia under a spot contract."The LNG cargo was transshipped in Europe onto the conventional LNG tanker “Yamal Spirit” and delivered to the Jebel Ali LNG Terminal in accordance with the contract’s delivery schedule," Novatek said.“With our first shipment to the United Arab Emirates, we are expanding the geography of our LNG supplies,” noted Lev Feodosyev, NOVATEK’s First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.

UAE Bans Ship Over Fuel Breach

AAL Shipping Launches New Service

The  global ocean transport operator AAL Shipping has launched a new Europe-Middle East/India-Asia Monthly Liner Service to serve the market’s multipurpose vessels (MPPs) and project heavy lift cargo transport requirements.The new service, which connects main ports between Europe, Middle East/India and Asia, harnesses AAL’s second generation 31,000-dwt mega-size A-Class fleet, renowned for its 40,000-cu m cargo intake capacity 700-tonne lift ability.The new liner service will follow a fixed route, with port call flexibility.
