Damen Introduces Zero Emissions Workboat

Damen Shipyards Group has unveiled the Multi Cat 1908 Electric, a fully electric, zero emissions operations workboat.The MuC 1908 E is based the Damen Multi Cat 1908, a proven product within the Damen portfolio that has been operating successfully around the world for over a quarter of a century.The MuC 1908 E is 19.05 meters by 8.4 meters, with a deck area of 35m². It offers seven tonnes of bollard pull and can travel at speeds of up to seven knots. The batteries used for the vessel’s propulsion have a lifetime of 10 years.

Three Fully-electric Patrol Boats Christened in Amsterdam

Three new Damen Patrol Vessels 1304 Electric have been christened at a recent ceremony at the Scheepvaart Museum in the maritime heart of Amsterdam. Two of the vessels, named Waterpieper and Waterhoen, were ordered by Gemeente Amsterdam (the City of Amsterdam) and the third (P55) is for Politie Eenheid Amsterdam (the Amsterdam Police). Electric Firefighting Vessels Delivered in Hamburg

The Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group said it handed over twin fireboats to Flotte Hamburg, a subsidiary of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) tasked with implementing low-emission shipping in the city.With 315 kWh of battery capacity, the state-of-the-art, plug-in hybrid vessels are capable of extended, fully-electric, emissions-free operations in and around the Port of Hamburg. Prag will be operated by Hamburg’s fire service while Dresden will support the HPA, the fire service and other third parties.The vessels, classed as Damen Fire-Fighting Vessels 3508, are completely new designs.

Damen's Ultra Shallow Draft Shoalbuster

Damen’s new Ultra Shallow Shoalbuster 3815 SD has successfully completed sea trials and bollard pull testing. ST Marine Christens Multi Cat at Damen

Dutch marine construction company ST Marine Support christened its newest multi-purpose workboat (Multi Cat) AUXILIA at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld.The vessel brings the total of Multi Cats in the company’s fleet to three, following the delivery of Multi Cats 3013 ODIN in 2010 and NERO in 2013. AUXILIA is the first of her kind – a Multi Cat 3513.S. T. Marine Support approached Damen for a new Multi Cat with larger deck capacity and greater winch capacity. Dutch Police Order Six Damen-built Patrol Vessels

The Dutch Police has ordered six patrol vessels from Damen Shipyards for its ‘Zeehavenpolitie’ and ‘Landelijke Eenheid’ units. Three of the new vessels are seagoing (the Stan Patrol 2506) and the other three are for the inland waterways (the Stan Patrol 2005). All six will be built at Damen’s headquarters in Gorinchem in the Netherlands, and are due to be delivered between 2019-2021. Jeroen van Woerkum, Damen Shipyards Sales Manager Benelux is delighted to have won the European tender for the six patrol vessels.

Van Oord’s New Dredger Named

A naming ceremony was held at Damen Dredging Equipment in Nijkerk on November 16 for the second of Van Oord’s Damen Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD) 650, the Mangystau, due to be delivered in the first week of January. The ceremony was attended by members of the Van Oord and Damen families. Damen received the first order for a CSD650 from dredging and marine contractor Van Oord at the end of 2014; the Ural River. With delivery scheduled six weeks from ordering, the on-stock availability of the vessel was a critical factor to support Van Oord’s dredging projects in the Caspian Sea.

Seacontractors Milestone with Three Damen Workboats

Customized vessels demonstrate capabilities in demanding global markets. Seacontractors has expanded its workboat fleet with three new orders at Damen Shipyards Group, including the maritime services provider’s ninth vessel from the Shoalbuster range, a Damen Shoalbuster 3209. In addition, Seacontractors’ order for two Stan Tugs makes it the launching customer for the new 70-tonne bollard pull STu 3011 design. Extensive customisations increase the multifunctional design’s capacity for anchor handling and firefighting.

New Dutch Waterway Bunker Station

The Gorinchem Ferry Service & Damen Shipyards Group collaborate to install a modular pontoon with a jetty for the bunker station. “What started as a mooring pontoon with a small gas oil tank for the ferry service has expanded into a complete bunker station”, says Jeroen van Woerkum, Sales Manager Benelux. The work involved designing, building and installing a modular pontoon, jetty, together with supplementary activities for the bunker station along Buiten de Waterpoort in Gorinchem. That location now provides storage for 15,000 litres of gas oil, divided between two tanks.
