JSI Alliance Completes Scope of Work in Basrah Refinery Upgrading Project

On 11 March, MV Svenja discharged her cargo of nine modules, marking the completion of the JSI Alliance’s scope of work in the Basrah Refinery Upgrading Project in Iraq for JGC Corporation.The Alliance dedicated two vessels to the project: the Jumbo Kinetic with her two 1,500t cranes, and the MV Svenja with two 1,000t cranes. Together, the vessels undertook transport of 84 modules using JCG's specially designed lifting frame. Nigeria to Build its First FLNG Unit

Nigerian company UTM Offshore has signed a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the development of an FLNG facility in Nigeria with JGC Corporation, Technip Energies, and KBR.This will be Nigeria's first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility. Africa currently has two FLNG units in operation, the Hili Episeyo in Cameroon, and, as of recently, the Coral Sul FLNG in Mozambique. Using Storage Tanks from Older LNG Carriers Could Boost FLNG Production

Maritime and offshore classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted its approval in principle (AIP) for an innovative concept for a floating LNG (FLNG) vessel utilizing storage tanks from older LNG carriers. Nortrans' Flotel to Assist with Coral FLNG Hook-Up

Singapore-based offshore vessel provider Nortrans has secured a flotel contract with TechnipEnergies to support the hook-up of the giant Coral Sul FLNG unit that has recently arrived in Mozambique after a journey from South Korea where it was built.Nortrans said that the flotel contract had a potential total period of up to 200 days including options. Petronas Awards FEED Contracts for Third LNG Floater

Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas has awarded two Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contracts to a JGC Corporation-Samsung Heavy Industries consortium and to Saipem as part of an international dual FEED design competition for a nearshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Sabah. JGC Lands Pre-FEED Deal for Nigeria's First FLNG Project

Japan's JGC has been awarded the Pre-Front End Engineering and Design (Pre-FEED) contract for an FLNG facility project in Nigeria.The project is being run by UTM Offshore Limited, a Nigerian private company engaged primarily in crude oil sales and construction equipment leasing, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.This project calls for the Pre-FEED of an FLNG facility with a production capacity of 1,200,000 tons annually using gas from the Yoho gas field owned by ExxonMobil and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Petronas Names Second FLNG in S. Korea

Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas named its second floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, the PFLNG Dua, in a ceremony in Geoje, South Korea.The floating LNG facility is designed to extract gas from deepwater gas reservoirs in depths up to 1,500 meters.With PFLNG Dua, the national oil and gas company of Malaysia owns and operates two floating LNG facilities, following the success of PFLNG Satu which has been in operation since 2017. This achievement demonstrates Petronas’ strong position in the LNG industry leading the way in innovative solutions to ensure a reliable and secure supply of LNG to meet the growing demand for cleaner energy.

Deck Carrier BigRoll Beaufort Delivered

The heavy marine transportation provider BigRoll Shipping has reached a milestone. The fourth and final MC Class vessel for BigRoll shipping was handed over by Cosco Dalian Shipyard Co. Ltd to new owner BigRoll Shipping in Leiden, the Netherlands. BigRoll Beaufort completes this unique series of four identical deck carriers. The Finnish Swedish 1A Ice Class MC-Class vessels are explicitly designed for the marine transportation of major modules and equipment for large energy projects both on and offshore and can deliver in the most remote and inaccessible areas on the planet.

First Vessel Launched for BigRoll Shipping

The heavy marine transportation provider BigRoll Shipping announced its first of four MC Class vessels under construction, BigRoll Barentsz, was launched on October 27, 2015 at Cosco Dalian Shipyard. The vessel construction and commissioning remains on schedule for delivery in March 2016. The second BigRoll vessel, the BigRoll Bering is expected to be launched in December, with an expected delivery date of May 2016. The remaining vessels will follow, with delivery anticipated to be the second half of 2016 and early 2017.

SAACKE Water Boiler Ordered for FLNG

SAACKE Marine Systems received an initial order from Japan-based JGC Corporation in June 2014 to deliver a complete high temperature water boiler system – consisting of a fired hot water boiler with a dual fuel burner and two heat recovery units – for PETRONAS’ second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility. "Japan is a key international shipbuilding market for SAACKE. That's why the order is a great success for our company, particularly in relation to the current market situation," said Peter Breidenich, Director Business Unit Marine Systems. Specifically, the SAACKE heat recovery units utilize the hot flue gas generated by gas turbines to produce hot water for the heating system.

Aurora LNG Submits Canada Export Bid

British Columbia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) proposal at Grassy Point near Prince Rupert has filed its export application with Canada's National Energy Board (NEB). "Aurora LNG is moving forward with their plans to export B.C.'s natural gas to new markets overseas," said Premier Christy Clark. "This marks another step towards realizing the transformative opportunity LNG presents us. "Filing an application for an export license is an important step," said Kevin Reinhart, CEO of Nexen. "However, we still have a lengthy process ahead of us before final investment decisions are made. Aurora LNG has filed its export application just over two weeks after signing a sole proponent agreement with the Province of British Columbia.

Arctic Russia LNG Plant Contracts Awarded

Japan's JGC Corporation with France's Technip to carry out the EPIC & commissioning of an integrated facility for natural gas liquefaction at the Yamal Peninsular. The contract was awarded by JSC Yamal LNG, owned by NOVATEK (80%) and TOTAL (20%). The project will start immediately with a phase of estimation, detailed engineering and early procurement. The Yamal Peninsula located in Yamal-Nenets autonomous district of northwest Siberia, Russia, extends roughly 700 km (435 mi) and is bordered principally by the Kara Sea, Baydaratskaya Bay on the west, and by the Gulf of Ob on the east. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 16.5 million tons and will be based of the resources of the South Tambey Gas Condensate field located on the Yamal Peninsula, Russia.
