Nicholas Scott-Gray has been appointed as the head of UK-based Montrose Port Authority (MPA)  – bringing with him more than 26 years’ experience within the port and shipping sectors. He brings with him over 26 years of experience within the port and shipping sectors, said a statement. Scott-Gray was most recently the business development manager at Forth Ports Ltd where he successfully developed the company’s commercial strategy for the development of the ports under its umbrella. Prior to that he also served as the port manager at Leith and Grangemouth, while also having held a number of prominent roles in the shipping and marine logistics industry. Scott-Gray (48)  has succeeded John Paterson, who held the chief executive position for nine years.

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has received the "Next Generation Ship Award‟ for its Enviroship Concept. The winning ship design is for a short-sea general cargo vessel which integrates a highly efficient gas power and propulsion system with an innovative hull design to provide a significant reduction in emissions. “We are pleased that our Enviroship Concept has been recognised by the maritime industry for its contribution to the ongoing development of environmentally friendly, fuel efficient ship designs,” said John Paterson, President – Marine, Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, signed a collaboration agreement with Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design Company Ltd (Bestway), a marine design and research company in China. John Paterson, Rolls-Royce, President – Marine, and Professor Liu Nan, Chairman of the Board and General Manager, Bestway represented the two companies at the signing ceremony. The collaboration will focus upon development of innovative and environmentally friendly marine designs. Rolls-Royce and Bestway will share expertise through joint working, in order to customise existing vessel designs to better suit the Chinese and European markets respectively. These vessel types include product and chemical tankers, RoRo, RoPax, feeder containers, and multi-purpose vessels.

Rolls-Royce has opened two new marine service centers in Galveston, Texas and Seattle, Washington. Rolls-Royce’s global marine services network is dedicated to helping customers maximize the operational capability of their vessels and manage their costs most effectively. Headquartered in Singapore, the network now includes facilities in 32 countries and employs more than 1,000 support staff, engineers and technicians around the world. Encompassing 40,000 square feet, the new Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine service center at Galveston will provide state-of-the-art repair and overhaul expertise in support of the company’s entire portfolio of marine products to customers throughout the Gulf of Mexico region.

Rolls-Royce, a provider of marine power systems and services, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) in . The aim is to work together to help develop ’s fast-growing marine industry. The scope of the partnership will include identifying potential strategic partners for development of shared business interests, which include the delivery of propulsion systems as well as developing a sourcing strategy that enhances the business activities of both parties in and for the export market.
