Glosten Taps Fanberg as President

Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy Glosten has appointed Morgan Fanberg, PE as president.Fanberg, who has over two decades of experience with the firm, will succeed Glosten’s fifth president, John Springer III, PE.Fanberg has led Glosten’s Marine Engineering Group since 2009 and was instrumental in growing the firm’s mechanical capabilities and leading the development of the firm’s Electrical Engineering Group.

Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy Glosten has appointed John Springer, PE as its new president. As Glosten’s fifth president since its founding in 1958, Springer takes over the role from the company’s fourth President John “Jay” Edgar, PE, and will have direct responsibility for strategic growth, business direction and client service. Springer has been with Glosten for 29 years. He previously managed the firms’ Naval Architecture Group from 1996 to 2003, served as Operations Director from 2004 to 2009 and most recently served on the Executive Management team.

Sailors Saved From Rough Seas

In the third sailing vessel rescue off the Atlantic coast in a week, three sailors were hoisted this morning from their 30-ft. sailing vessel 25 miles east of Cape Hatteras, N.C., after fighting 15- to 20-ft. breaking seas and 35 knot sustaining winds for about 15 hours. John Springer, 35, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Wayne Ryland, 59, and Janine Ryland, 34, both of McHenry, Ill., were on the sailing vessel Bath en route to Charleston, S.C., from Maryland when they encountered rough weather. The sailors contacted the Coast Guard via VHF-FM radio at about 7:30 a.m. today requesting to be evacuated. "This case, coming right in the middle of National Safe Boating Week, illustrates several important points that mariners should keep in mind," said Lt. Cdr.
