Carnival Orders Excel-class Cruise Ship

Fresh on the heels of its first newbuild order in five years, the world's largest cruise company has placed an order for an additional vessel.U.S.-based Carnival Corporation on Tuesday announced it has signed an agreement with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to build an Excel-class cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Line brand for expected delivery in 2028.The ship will be the 11th Excel-class ship for the corporation's fleet across four of its brands, and the fifth to be sailed by Carnival Cruise Line.

Almaco Completes Two Projects for Carnival Jubilee

In October 2023, Almaco successfully delivered a project for the newbuild Carnival Jubilee at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. The catering project consisted of a full visual turnkey delivery of all the ship’s provision stores.Additionally, Almaco supported the yard with manpower for work consisting of fixed furniture installation in over 1,000 cabins. This second project was delivered in December 2023.Meyer Werft and Carnival Cruises chose Almaco to plan, design, build, supply and commission all the provision areas onboard Carnival Jubilee.

Carnival Orders Another Cruise Ship from Meyer Werft

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft reports it has secured an order from U.S.-based Carnival Corporation for the construction of a new cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line. The newbuild order is the first placed by Carnival Corporation in five years.Slated for delivery in 2027, the Excel-class ship will be a sister vessel to the 183,200 GT Carnival Jubilee, which was handed over at the end of 2023."Our Excel-class ships have been a tremendous addition to the Carnival fleet and proven very popular with our guests," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Meyer Werft Delivers Cruise Ship Carnival Jubilee

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft announced it has delivered Carnival Jubilee, the latest cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line.The 183,200 GT ship is 345.4 meters long, 42 meters wide and can accommodate 5,374 passengers in 2,626 passenger cabins, plus 1,551 crew. It has 20 decks.The RINA-classed Carnival Jubilee has a wide range of entertainment options and numerous restaurants. The highlight on the upper deck is the "Ultimate Playground" with a waterpark including large slides and the "BOLT" roller coaster.The newbuild is the first ship for Carnival Cruise Line to be built in Papenburg.

Seaside LNG and Carnival Corporation Partner to Fuel LNG-Powered Cruise Ship in Galveston

Meyer Werft Floats Out Carnival Jubilee

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has floated out its latest newbuild, a 183,200 GT cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line.Carnival Jubilee left the yard's covered building dock on Friday and was moored at a pier in the shipyard harbor for outfitting. On Saturday, the ship briefly cast off from the pier for its bow thrusters and stabilizers could be tested.The RINA-classed ship is 344.5 meters long, with capacity for 5,228 passengers in 2,626 passenger cabins, plus 1,551 crew. Boost for Scrabster Harbor Project

The second phase in a major upgrade of Scrabster Harbor in Caithness, the North of Scotland, has secured up to GBP3 million investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).The funding will enable the redevelopment of the existing St. Ola pier to create further deep-water infrastructure and meet anticipated demand from cruise ships and offshore energy supply vessels. It will place the port in an ideal position to service activity in the West of Shetland basin.A new piled quay wall and pier deck will be installed to expand the existing pier. Both the inner and outer side of the pier will be dredged to create water depth of no less than 9m.

Wilhelmsen Ship Management  has recently hosted a jubilee celebration with loyal customers in Tokyo, where it all began.On 3 April 2019, more than 50 invited guests and media friends attended an exclusive celebration marking Wilhelmsen Ship Management's 25 years in the gas segment at Ascott Marunochi Tokyo.The guests consist of long-time customers, some who have been with us when we began our gas journey in 1994. They expressed their congratulations and were overjoyed to be part of our celebrations.A special award ceremony was held to show appreciation to two veteran crew who have been sailing for a long 25 years on gas vessels managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management. The long-established Hamburg company NOSKE-KAESER Maritime Solutions will be turning 140 years old.Managing director Jürgen Matthes is delighted about the jubilee: “This is a very special anniversary for us. Offshore Oil: Tullow eyes Ghana Assets

Tullow Oil is interested in new oil blocks off Ghana's coast as part of the British explorer's plans to consolidate its operations in the West African nation, Chief Executive Paul McDade said. Tullow is leading two operations offshore Ghana, including the country's flagship 100,000 barrel-per-day Jubilee field, which began commercial production in late 2010. Ghana's energy ministry said this month it would award nine new upstream oil blocks for commercial exploration off its coast beginning this year. "We as a company want to consolidate our presence in Ghana after our investments in Jubilee and TEN (Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme). We don't want to stop there but keep growing," McDade told reporters in Accra, where he was meeting investors.

Subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel Bravenes was christened by Ms Yvon van Oord-Barbier, the wife of CEO Pieter van Oord. The well-attended christening ceremony marked the start of a two-day event celebrating Van Oords 150th anniversary. The Bravenes is the third vessel to join Van Oord’s SRI fleet. SRI vessels stabilise and protect subsea pipelines, cables and other structures at depths down to 1,500 metres. Van Oord invests in innovative techniques and ultra-modern equipment such as the Bravenes to maintain its leading position in this market. FPSO at Jubilee Oil Field to Close for Fix

The production vessel at Tullow's flagship Jubilee oilfield off Ghana's west coast will shut down next week for 21 days while it undergoes repairs, the country's power utilities said on Monday. The planned shutdown next Monday of the Kwame Nkrumah production vessel, which currently produces both oil and gas, will result in a cut to offshore gas supply, the companies said in a statement. They said any loss of power generation would be offset by generating additional power from the eastern port of Tema area. Tullow did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ghana to Award New Oil Blocks off West Coast

Ghana is set to award nine new upstream oil blocks for commercial exploration off its western coast beginning this year, the energy ministry said on Thursday.The West African country plans to award six of the nine blocks this year while the remaining three will be given out next year through a mix of open competitive tender and direct negotiations, the ministry said in a statement.It said state oil company Ghana National Petroleum Corporation will acquire one of the blocks to explore in partnership with a strategic partner to develop its technical capacity and become an operator.Ghana, which b

Flintstone Secures Contract for Tullow FPSO

Flintstone Technology Ltd said it has secured a contract with MODEC for its in-line tensioning and pull through connection mooring system to be deployed off West Africa.The system will be used on Tullow Oil’s Kwame Nkrumah MV21 floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel located on the Jubilee field off the coast of Ghana.The mooring system will allow the conversion of the FPSO to a spread moored configuration.The Kwame Nkrumah MV21 is installed in approximately 1,100 meters water depth on the Jubilee Field, which is one of the largest oil fields discovered offshore West Africa in the past 10 years.Earlier this month, Flintstone…

Van Oord 2017 Revenue Dips

Van Oord reported slight drop in its revenues for 2017 having realized of EUR 1.53 billion (2016: EUR 1.71 billion) and a net result of EUR 78 million (2016: EUR 90 million). In particular, the turnover of the group's dredging activities was low from a historical perspective (EUR 923 million, 2016: EUR 1.18 billion). The offshore wind sales amounted to EUR 403 million and remained virtually the same as last year's level (EUR 394 million). Despite the poor market, sales in offshore oil and gas increased to EUR 204 million (2016: EUR 130 million), thanks to a number of large projects in our niche markets. The net result amounted to EUR 78 million (EUR 90 million in 2016). The decrease was mainly related to a lower level of activity in the company.

Maersk Drilling Bags Contract with Tullow Ghana

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a four year contract for the deep-water drillship Maersk Venturer by Tullow Ghana Ltd. The contract, which was signed December 2017, is expected to commence in February 2018 and covers development drilling on the Jubilee and TEN fields offshore Ghana. Maersk Venturer is currently in transit for the job offshore Ghana thereby further strengthening Maersk Drilling’s presence in the region. ”I am very pleased that Maersk Drilling will be mobilising another deepwater rig for this significant job in a strategically important region. Indian Navy Ships Satpura, Kadmatt at Singapore

In pursuance of India’s ‘Act East’ policy, Eastern Fleet ships INS Satpura and Kadmatt are on a 4-day port visit to Singapore from 14 September 17. During the stay in harbour, various activities such as official calls, formal reception on board ships, ships open to visitors, guided tours for Indian naval personnel and professional interaction between naval personnel of both the nations have been planned. With a joint aim to ensure seamless Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) through optimal utilisation of limited resources at sea, both the countries have already signed a Technical Agreement (TA) to share white shipping information and are also a part of the multilateral construct Regional Maritime Information Exchange (REMlX).

India's Eastern Naval Command Golden Jubilee Seminar with the theme “National Maritime Power - Concepts, Constituents and Catalysts”, concluded on 23 August 2017. The two-day seminar is jointly hosted by ENC in partnership with the National Maritime Foundation (NMF) was inaugurated at Samudrika Auditorium Visakhapatnam on 22 August 2017 by Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC  Chief of the Naval Staff. In the Inaugural session, the welcome address was delivered by Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Admiral RK Dhowan (Retd), former Navy Chief delivered the inaugural address. The Chief Guest for the event, Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of the Naval Staff, delivered the keynote address.
