Sembcorp Marine to Sell West Rigel

Sembcorp Marine announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) has signed an agreement for the sale of the semi-submersible rig West Rigel (Rig) to a buyer at a price of US$500 million. Under the terms of the agreement, the Sale is subject to conditions precedent being met by both parties before the delivery of the Rig and the payment of the price. Once the conditions precedent are fulfilled, the buyer will take delivery of the Rig but the Rig will remain in the Company’s yard for certain works to be undertaken for reactivation. West Rigel was originally contracted by North Atlantic Rigel Ltd (NARL), a subsidiary of North Atlantic Drilling Ltd (NADL) and Seadrill Ltd. Both Seadrill Ltd and NADL have applied for restructuring under Chapter 11 in the United States.

New Fresh Water Generators for Pionerio de Libra FPSO

Dutch water treatment specialist Hatenboer-Water has supplied three fresh water generators for the Pioneiro de Libra oil production vessel built by Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. The order consists of three reverse osmosis type fresh water generators. Two of the generators are topside installations in heavy duty box frames suitable for a hazardous Ex Zone 2 area. The Pioneiro de Libra is operated by OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture between Brazil’s Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore. The reverse osmosis (RO) units desalinate seawater for different applications on board.

Prosafe Crew to Train Using a New Lifeboat Simulator

Virtual Marine Technology said it has delivered a second lifeboat simulator system to Prosafe. The simulator was custom built for training lifeboat coxswains onboard the Safe Zephyrus, one of Prosafe’s newest accommodation rigs. The Safe Zephyrus was constructed at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore. The vessel complies with Norwegian regulations and is capable of operating in the harshest environments and with the highest standards of safety. It can accommodate up to 450 people in single person cabins.

EIG names Odebrecht, shipyards in Petrobras suit

Investment management firm EIG Management Co added Brazil's engineering conglomerate Odebrecht SA and a few other shipyards in its $221 million fraud suit against Petroleo Brasileiro SA. EIG, in a filing on Wednesday, alleged that Odebrecht SA and other shipyards along with Petrobras misled the firm to invest over $221 million to purchase equity in now-bankrupt Sete Brasil Participacoes SA. The other shipyards mentioned in the filing by EIG and eight of its managed funds include Keppel Corporation Ltd, Sembcorp Marine Ltd and Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. SembCorp Bags US$1bn Semi-sub Deal

Sembcorp Marine has signed an engineering and construction contract worth about US$1 billion to build the world's largest semi-submersible crane vessel for a unit of Netherlands-based Heerema Offshore Services B.V. Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2018, the DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities. The contract follows a letter-of-intent to build the vessel signed between Sembmarine's wholly owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd and Heerema Offshore Services in March this year. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area.

Technip Wins Jurong's FPSO Conversion Contract

Technip has been awarded a topsides detailed engineering and procurement services contract by Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. The project is part of the conversion of a shuttle tanker into a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which is built at the Jurong Shipyard, located in Singapore. Technip will build on its experience in full range of offshore acilities to design the FPSO’s topsides. The FPSO will be based in the Libra field, offshore Brazil, at a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters. Once completed, it will have a capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day and 4 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Technip’s operating center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will execute the contract which is scheduled for completion during the second semester of 2016.

Deltamarin Designs the Libra FPSO

Deltamarin Ltd. has entered into a contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd for the basic engineering of the Libra FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading unit). Deltamarin’s scope of work covers the marine part of the Navion Norvegia shuttle tanker conversion into the Libra FPSO. The conversion shall be performed at the Singaporean Jurong Shipyard, whose customer is OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG, a 50/50 joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore. ABB Wins $160 Million in Orders

ABB won orders worth $160m from Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. for the design, supply, supervision of installation, testing and commissioning of the main electrical systems for seven next generation drill ships that will operate in the deep water oil and gas fields off the coast of Brazil. The orders were booked in the fourth quarter of last year and first quarter of this year. The ships will be used to drill wells in the enormous offshore pre-salt fields off the southeast coast of Brazil.

Wärtsilä Corporation report January to September 2012 indicates growth in orders & net sales despite tough markets. Highlights of the review period Jan – Sept 2012. “Despite the continuing uncertainty in the global economy and the tough market conditions, both our order intake and net sales developed well. In the third quarter they were up by 14% and 28% respectively. Ship Power’s year-on-year performance is strong, and has been supported by both an active offshore sector and the Hamworthy acquisition. Among the highlights are a major engine and propulsion equipment order for six Brazilian drillships from Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, and three platform supply vessel related orders from Statoil, as well as the first four ballast water management system orders.

Wärtsilä Awarded Order for Six Brazilian Drill Ships

Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading solutions and services provider, has been awarded the contract from Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine to supply main generating engines and thrusters for six new deep water drill ships to be built in Brazil at Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz. The contract was signed at the end of September. The Jurong Aracruz shipyard, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore based Sembcorp Marine, will build the vessels for Sete Brasil, an investment company that manages asset portfolios in the oil and gas sector. The drill ships to be used in the pre-salt deep-water drilling program of the Brazilian energy giant, Petrobras, will be operated by drilling contractors Seadrill and Odfjell.

ABB Wins Marine Orders Worth $200 Million in Asia

Energy efficient automation and reliable power for 24 vessels for oil and gas industry. Zurich, Switzerland, August 15, 2011 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, won several orders for a total of $200 million from Samsung Heavy Industries, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Keppel FELS and Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd., to supply equipment 23 new Jack-Up and DP drilling vessels and one FPSO to be executed in South-Korea and Singapore. The orders were booked during the second quarter. The vessels operate in oil and gas extraction, production and transportation, and include semi-submersible drilling rigs, drill ships, mobile oil and gas platforms as well as floating production, storage and offloading vessels.

AOPL Wins Contract

Atwood Oceanics, Inc. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Atwood Oceanics Pacific Limited (AOPL), has been awarded a contract by Chevron Australia Pty. Ltd. to provide a newly constructed Mobile Offshore Semisubmersible Drilling Unit for a firm three year period, with an option to extend the firm period to six years. The contract provides for an operating dayrate of approximately $470,000, if the firm commitment is three years and approximately $450,000, if the option is exercised to extend the firm commitment period to six years. Both dayrates are subject to adjustment pursuant to cost escalation provisions of the contract. To provide the drilling rig required by this contract, AOPL has executed a construction contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd.

Jurong Shipyard Wins Cableship Contract

SembCorp Marine said on Thursday its unit Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd has signed a $38.8 million contract to build a cable-laying and repair vessel for ASEAN Cableship Pte Ltd. It said in a statement the contract had a further option for an additional two identical vessels. The 9,650-dwt vessel was scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2002. Jurong Shipyard had an orderbook of $123 million for construction of six units of 1,090 TEU container vessels with deliveries scheduled between the end of this year to 2002.

Petropod to Jack-Up in Singapore

A Norway-based PetroProd D&P I, a wholly owned subsidiary of PetroProd Ltd, has signed an EPC contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd of Singapore on June 22, 2007 for the construction of one MSC/Gusto CJ70 jack up rig at a cost of approximately $440 million to be delivered in 2010. Petroprod Ltd is a company specializing in mobile production and field development mainly for small and medium size oilfields. It is managed by Larsen Oil & Gas and the main shareholders are associated with Larsen. The company is presently trading over the counter at the Oslo OTC and intends to seek full listing at the Oslo Stock Exchange later this year. The CJ70 is the world's largest jack up rig and is capable of drilling in water depths to 150 meters in harsh environment.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contract

Aker Kvaerner has signed a contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd in Singapore for delivery of a drilling system for one ultra deepwater drilling semi-submersible unit. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $113m. The contract is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The scope of work is to deliver a complete drilling package consisting of engineering, drilling equipment deliveries and subsea equipment. The award is based on the second option included in a contract Aker Kvaerner MH signed with Jurong Shipyard beginning of October 2005. This delivery is an identical copy to previous deliveries to Jurong and will be a highly efficient system designed for parallel operations.

ABB Wins Contracts Worth $110M

ABB has been awarded contracts worth $110 million to supply electrical power systems for twelve vessels and five offshore drilling rigs. • Total electrical power system packages for two semi-submersible drilling rigs for subsidiaries of Jon Fredriksen controlled SeaDrill Ltd (Subsea Drilling (III) Ltd and Subsea Drilling (IV) Ltd). The rigs will be built at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, based on a GVA 7500 design with the first rig delivery in early 2008. • Total electrical power system package for one semi-submersible drilling rig for PetroRig I Pte Ltd/PetroMena ASA under management by Larsen Oil & Gas.

Jurong Shipyard Skids Hull in Rig Construction

Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL), a subsidiary of SembCorp Marine Ltd has skidded the massive 14,000 ton upper hull of a $285 million semi-submersible rig over the lower hull. It is reportedly the first of its kind involving the skidding of such a heavy structure. It was conceived, designed and constructed over a two-year period. Pte Ltd (PPL) entered into a fixed price agreement with GlobalSanteFe Corporation (GSF) for the construction of two units of Friede & Goldman ExD designed deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs. Valued at $285 million each, inclusive of equipment, project management and other services furnished by client, the agreement also covers options to build two additional units of semi-submersible to be exercised at specific dates.

SembCorp Marine Ltd. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. won a project worth about $80 million from U.S.-based Kellog Brown & Root Inc. to convert a crude oil tanker into an oil platform. The project, which involves the conversion of a 270,000 dwt crude carrier to a floating production, storage and offloading platform to be stationed offshore from Brazil. After the project's completion in the third quarter of 2002, the platform will have the capacity to produce 150,000 barrels a day of oil as well as gas compression capacity. Jurong Shipyard is also investing $8.8 million for a 70 percent stake in a Brazilian joint venture for conversion and construction of floating production and drilling units for deep water oil and gas exploration and production.

SembCorp Brazil Wins $149M Offshore Contract

SembCorp Marine Ltd.'s Brazilian joint venture had secured its first contract, worth $149 million, for the fabrication of topside production modules in offshore Brazil. The firm said the contract for Maua Jurong SA, the Brazilian joint-ventue of Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, was to build topside fabrication modules for the Barracuda and Caratinga fields in offshore Brazil. It said the contract was awarded by Halliburton Productos Ltda, the Brazilian affiliate of Kellog Brown & Root Inc., with fabrication work expected to start in mid-June 2001 and completion scheduled in late 2002. Last month SembCorp Marine said Jurong Shipyard had won a project worth about $80 million from Kellog Brown & Root to convert a crude oil tanker into an oil platform.
