Kandla Port Renamed as Deendayal Port

The Indian Ministry of Shipping has issued a notification renaming Kandla Port Trust as Deendayal Port Trust with effect from 25th of September, 2017. Kandla Port, located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, is one of the twelve major ports in the country. As per the Ministry’s notification, the Central Government, in exercise of powers conferred on it under Indian Ports Act, 1908, made the amendment to replace “Kandla” with “Deendayal”. While inaugurating various projects at Kandla Port in May this year, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had given the suggestion for renaming of Kandla Port after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, who stood for the uplift of the poor and weaker sections of society.

Iran's Chabahar Port Signs Pact with India Ports Global

India Ports Global has signed a contract with Aria Banader of Iran to equip and operate two terminals at Chabahar - Shahid -Beheshti Port in Iran for transportation of goods and other purposes. "As per Article 6 of the contract, effort are to be made to commence commercial operations at Chabahar –Shahid- Beheshti Port in Iran within 18 months from the contract activation date or 4 months from the date on which the Lessor hands over the Terminals and the infrastructure facilities to the Lessee in accordance with the terms of the Contract," said a press release from the government. India Ports Global Private Limited (IPGPL) is a joint venture between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Kandla Port Trust (KPT).

Iranian Delegation visits JNPT

An Iranian delegation headed by Dr. Abbas Akhoundi, Hon. Minister of Road and Urban Development visited JN Port (Jawaharlal Nehru Port) to see the Port facilities and know about the future development plans. Dr. Akhoundi and his delegation were received by  Shri Anil Diggikar, Chairman, JNPT, Shri Neeraj Bansal,  Dy.Chairman, JNPT and senior Port officials. The delegation was taken around the Port operational area to show the Port infrastructure and facilities. In the meeting the delegation was briefed about the Port traffic performance, financial performance and the various  ‘Ease of Doing Business Initiatives’  implemented for the benefit of  trade.

Essar's Terminal at Kandla Port crosses 100 mi tonne throughput

The marine terminal of Vadinar Oil Terminal Ltd (VOTL), which is part of Essar Ports Ltd, has been the best performing terminal in the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) for two consecutive years. The terminal recently received a certificate of appreciation from KPT, which crossed 100 million tonnes of cargo throughput for the first time in FY 2015-16. VOTL is an integrated oil terminal located in Vadinar, Gujarat with 58 million tonnes capacity and handles crude oil and petroleum products. The facilities consist of an offshore SPM (Single Point Mooring), two jetties, 3.12 Million KL tankages for storage, and rail and road gantries for dispatch of petroleum products.

Adani Kandla Bulk Terminal Pvt. Ltd. Adani Kandla Bulk Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (AKBTPL) under the concession agreement with Kandla Port Trust (KPT) has successfully over shot the MGT in its 1st year of operations itself. “We at Adani Group share our Chairman’s vision of achieving 200 Million Metric Tons cargo by 2020. Essar Ports Profit Jumps 15%

Essar Ports Limited today announced its unaudited results for the full year and quarter ended March 2015. ·         Essar Ports takes over the Vizag Iron Ore outer harbor terminal with 2 berths on 14th May 2015. Existing operational terminal with no gestation period. Refurbishment of terminal to happen alongside operations. 1.    Revenue for FY’15 is Rs. 1,741 cr, an increase of 6% against Rs 1,637 cr in FY’14. 2.    EBITDA for FY’15 is Rs. 1,416 cr, an increase of 7% against Rs 1,327 cr in FY’14. 3.    PAT for FY’15 is Rs. 391 cr, an increase of 2% against Rs 384 cr in FY’14. 4.    Earnings Per Share for FY’15 were Rs. 1.    Revenue for the quarter is Rs. 440 cr, an increase of 1% against Rs 434 cr in Q3FY’15 and 6% increase against Rs 416 cr in Q4FY’14. 2.    EBITDA for Q4 FY’15 is Rs.

2nd WISTA India Forum Receives Strong Support

On 23rd January 2015, the Royal Mumbai Yacht Club saw around a hundred dignified members of the shipping fraternity gather for the second WISTA Annual Forum, an event that lived up to the industry’s expectations. The select crowd included long-term supporters of WISTA India and WISTA members, as well as members who flew down from Delhi, Chennai, Cochin and Bengaluru especially for this conference. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by key dignitaries – Hon Mr Deepak Shetty, the  DG of Shipping who was the chief guest of the evening, Mr Sanjay Bhaty, from Kandla Port trust, Mr.Umesh Grover, CEO of INSA and Ms Sanjam Sahi Gupta, the President of WISTA India and Board member of WISTA International.

Adani Ports to Commission Tuna Tekra Terminal by Dec 2014

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, will commission its dry bulk cargo handling terminal at Tuna Tekra in a record time by December 2014. The group shared this development with prospective clients during a trade meeting, last week. The meet, organized by Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd to make this announcement and showcase the salient features of the project, received unprecedented response, and was attended by more than 60-65 representatives from almost every major shipping agencies/lines as well as custom house agents operating in the region. Attendees were given a detailed presentation on the upcoming facility and were also taken on a guided tour of the terminal.

Exemption from priority berth hire charges at Kandla

Kandla Port Trust has acceded to the request of the Fertlizer Companies/Fertilizer Association of India to exempt vessels arriving in Kandla carrying fertilizer cargo from the payment of priority berth hire charges specified at Note No.(7) of General Notes relating to Schedules 3.1 to 3.5 of the current Scale of Rates. This is with a view to arrest the declining trend of fertilizer traffic, attraxct additional fertilizer traffic and bring down the cost of fertilizer handling at the port. This exemption shall be valid until 31 March 2015 and is effective from 23 May 2014.   GAC India

New Indian Container Terminal: Global Bids Invited

India's largest major port, Kandla Port Trust (KPT) invites global bids for setting up a container terminal at nearby Tuna -Tekra. The port authority has invited expression of interests (EOIs) from global majors for setting up the container terminal on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis for container vessels having capacity up to 18000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) reports the Business Standard. The project will be developed on public private partnership (PPP) basis with 30 years of concession period for the operator. According to official sources, the bidders will be required to prepare a feasibility study report along with a statement of total investment required and expected revenue generation.

India’s Busiest Port Resumes Operations

Kandla, India's busiest port which was damaged in last month's earthquake, resumed operations at all its 10 general cargo berths on Wednesday with load restrictions on some of them, the port chairman said. "We are operating on all 10 cargo berths with load restrictions on berth numbers one to five from today (Wednesday) onwards," Kandla Port Trust Chairman A.K. Joti told Reuters. Operations were halted on January 26 by the huge quake which struck the western state of Gujarat, killing at least 30,000 people. The port resumed partial operations on February 3. "As of now more than 80 percent of the port capacity is being utilized," a shipping ministry statement said. Port authorities have been facing pressure from traders and the government to restore capacity after the quake.
