When the owners of Norwegian oil firm Aker BP decided to digitise its assets and operations, they searched high and low for the right software company. Maersk Drilling and Aker BP have agreed to a new two-year contract to reactivate and quickly deploy jack-up rig Maersk Reacher in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.Maersk Reacher will be deployed as an accommodation rig, with the option of repurposing the rig for plugging & abandonment for the final phase of the contract. The tire was delivered on budget and on time, which enables field development is on track to start production on December 1. "Ivar Aasen field is an important development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and the Norwegian as operator . We are therefore very pleased to finalize the platform deck according to budget and on time. Statoil and ABB have entered an agreement to develop solutions for subsea electrical power transmission, distribution and power conversion systems for water depths down to 3,000 meters and over long distances. The agreement is in the form of a cost-shared joint industrial program (JIP) led by Statoil on behalf of other participating oil companies, with ABB as the technology developer. Statoil and Sintef have signed a new framework agreement – one which likely to be the most comprehensive individual research agreement ever signed in Norway. With a potential value of NOK 1 billion, the agreement is valid for four years with an option for an additional two plus two years. “Sintef has both wide and expert knowledge in disciplines that are important to Statoil, such as deepwater and multi-phase technology,” says Statoil research and development head Karl Johnny Hersvik. Statoil entered into its first framework agreement with Sintef in 1985.

Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon officially opened the Statoil-operated Peregrino oil field offshore Brazil today in a ceremony aboard the floating production storage and offloading ship (FPSO). The event was attended by relevant authorities and international journalists. Crown Prince Haakon was accompanied by Norwegian petroleum and energy minister Ola Borten Moe, Statoil CEO Helge Lund, Norwegian ambassador to Brazil Turid Eusebio, and Brazilian mines and energy minister Edison Lobão. The guests were first led on a tour of the FPSO, followed by an official opening ceremony.
