Conrad Industries Awarded Contract

Conrad Industries has been awarded a $5.5 million contract for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The contract award calls for the design and construction of a 255-foot crane barge with a fully equipped machine and fabrication shop. When delivered, the vessel's primary mission shall be the support of maintenance dredging and repair of navigation structures and facilities for the Nashville District of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Conrad Wins Contract to Build Aluminum Vessel

Conrad Industries' subsidiary Conrad Aluminum, LLC won a $2.8 million contract to build a 175-ft. aluminum crew/supply vessel for Diamond Services Corporation of Amelia, La. Construction will begin in the company's new facility in Amelia in November with delivery scheduled for October 2004. When delivered, the vessel will immediately service the oilfield in the Gulf of Mexico. Kenneth G. "Jerry" Myers, Jr., Conrad's President and CEO, said, "We have received a number of indications of interest for projects for our new aluminum facility and are extremely excited to announce our very first contract award for aluminum vessel construction. The vessel will have a 32-foot beam and hull depth of 14.5 ft.

Conrad Reports 4Q, Full Year Results

Conrad Industries, Inc. reported a net loss of $5 million and loss per diluted share of $0.68 for the three months ended December 31, 2003 compared to a net loss of $499,000 and loss per diluted share of $0.07 for the fourth quarter of 2002. For the 12 months ended December 31, 2003, it reported a net loss of $6.8 million and loss per diluted share of $0.94 compared to net loss before a cumulative effect of a change in accounting principle of $4,000 and earnings before a cumulative effect of a change in accounting principle per diluted share of $0.00 in 2002. Revenues for the three months ended December 31, 2003 were $6.9 million compared to $10.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2002.

Conrad Awarded Contracts

Conrad Industries, Inc. was awarded contracts for two 75 ft. tug boats with four options for a total of a six boat program. This new class of tugs will be ABS classed and include double bottoms in the fuel tanks. According to Conrad Industries president and CEO, Kenneth G. “Jerry” Myers, Jr., the work on the initial tug will begin immediately with delivery of the first vessel scheduled for December 2002. Conrad’s Orange Shipbuilding Group will construct the vessels. Conrad has also been notified by the State of North Carolina that it was the low bidder on their 180 ft. ferry. Myers said that the work will also be performed by Orange Shipbuilding which completed a similar vessel in 1992.

Conrad Snags Several Key Newbuild Contracts

Conrad Industries, Inc.'s President and CEO, Kenneth G. "Jerry" Myers, Jr., said recently that the company was the recipient of several newbuild programs. Myers reported that the company was awarded contracts for two 75-ft. tug boats with four options for a total of a six boat program. This new class of tugs will be ABS classed and include double bottoms in the fuel tanks. Myers said, "Work on the initial tug will begin immediately with delivery of the first vessel scheduled for December 2002. This program fits well with our strategic direction of making the Company's Orange Shipbuilding group, located in Orange, Texas, the premier tug boat builder. Orange Shipbuilding has a long history of building tug boats dating back to the beginning of the Company in 1974.

Conrad Industries, Inc. compared to net income of $951,000 and earnings per diluted share of $0.13 for the three months ended March 31, 2001. Revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2002 were $10.6 million compared to $11.9 million for the three months ended March 31, 2001. The company's backlog was $11.3 million at March 31, 2002 as compared to $10.4 million at December 31, 2001 and $13.2 million at March 31, 2001. Conrad Enters into Letter of Intent with Swiftships

Conrad Industries, Inc. The Swiftships companies would also be eligible to receive an additional amount based on the performance of the assets during a three-year period after the closing. The Swiftships companies would use the proceeds of the asset sale to pay creditors. The letter of intent is non-binding with respect to the proposed acquisition, which is subject to the execution and closing of a definitive agreement. The letter of intent contains a binding exclusivity agreeme nt whereby the Swiftships parties have agreed that before October 31, 2002 they will negotiate exclusively with Conrad and not solicit any competing acquisition proposal or enter into any agreement with respect to a competing acquisition proposal.

Conrad Terminates Negotiations with Swiftships

Conrad Industries, Inc. announced the award of a new construction program for the Corps of Engineers totaling $22.2 million which brings the total current backlog to approximately $33.2 million, excluding an option for one towboat valued at $5.6 million. The contract award calls for the construction of three 124-ft., 3000 hp, ABS Class towboats valued at $16.6 million with an option for one additional towboat valued at $5.6 million. When delivered, these vessels will perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on the upper Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Kenneth G. Conrad Industries, Inc. is expanding its products and services to include aluminum marine fabrication, repair and conversion for both commercial and government customers. The expansion is part of a $5.5 million investment in one of the company's existing facilities in Amelia, La. Kenneth G. Conrad Appoints Kitchen to Board of Directors

Thomas M. Kitchen has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Conrad Industries. Kitchen is currently a consultant to businesses and individuals on general business matters and served as president of Avondale Industries from October 1999 until his retirement in January 2002. Kenneth G. “Jerry” Myers, Jr., Conrad’s President and CEO said, “We are extremely pleased to have Tom join our Board. Tom’s shipbuilding experience and financial expertise will be a welcome addition. Conrad Awarded Ferry Contract

Conrad Industries, Inc. announced the award of a $9.5 million contract for the Alaska Marine Highway System. The contract award calls for the construction of a 181-ft. ferry capable of transporting 149 passengers and 18 vehicles. When delivered, the vessel will provide service between Metlakatla and Ketchikan, two of the Inside Passage of Alaska’s southernmost communities. Kenneth G. Conrad Rides the (Expansion) Tide

The business of predicting the course of financial markets has led many companies - good and bad, large and small - to ruin. Perhaps, then, it is better to rely on tenets of nature, such as "Only the Strong Survive" when laying out business plans. Conrad Industries of Morgan City, La., has obviously ascribed to the latter, building a formidable fortress of a marine company with a wide geographic scope, including the recent news of its pending acquisition of Swiftships, an apparent $12.5 million deal which is still under negotiation. Visitors unfamiliar with Conrad Industries would be immediately struck by the modernity of its facilities in Morgan City, La. In continuous operation since 1948, Conrad Shipyard, based here, specializes in offshore and inland vessel and barge repair.
