Solstad Rederi AS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norwegian-based offshore shipowner Solstad Offshore ASA, has sold the platform supply vessel (PSV) Normand Corona.The 85.65-meter-long Normand Corona was built at Kleven Verft in 2006.The vessel was handed over to its new owner on June 14, 2022.Solstad said the sale will result in a "minor positive accounting effect" to be reflected in the second quarter of 2022.

Subsea services provider DeepOcean and the Norwegian offshore vessel owner Østensjø Rederi have agreed for Østensjø's Edda Freya vessel to remain with DeepOcean for longer, on a new 2-year charter.“We are pleased that we have come to an agreement with DeepOcean for Edda Freya, a vessel that was designed together with and has been on contract with DeepOcean since delivery in 2016. We are satisfied with the terms and our long and solid relationship with DeepOcean.” says Kristian Vea, CEO of Østensjø Rederi.Edda Freya is a hybrid-powered construction vessel suited for worldwide operations.

Norway's ship recycling firm Green Yard is taking over the cash strapped Kleven Verft shipyard after the latter recently filed for bankruptcy.In a press release issued on Tuesday, and titled "Kleven is saved!," Kleven said that Green Yard had reached an agreement with the bankruptcy estate and the banks involved, to take over the Kleven Verft."The core competence is preserved and Green Yard Kleven will also in the future be one of Norway's most renowned shipyards," Kleven said.Kleven was in January this year taken over by Croatia's DIV Group from Hurtigruten and the future seemed brighter…

Ocean Residences Development Ltd. (ORD) has taken the next step in the development of M/Y NJORD, a 290m long residential yacht to be built by DIV Shipbuilding, which owns both Kleven Verft shipyard in Norway and Brodosplit shipyard in Croatia. Norwegian offshore vessel builder Havyard will outsource the construction of the Atlantic Harrier platform supply vessel to its compatriot yard Kleven, as delays with other projects have put a strain on Havyard’s Leirvik facility.The platform supplier was first ordered by Fafnir Offshore in 2014, but Havyard in 2017 canceled the order as Fafnir was unable to secure a long-term charter or financing agreement.Havyard then last year won a contract to deliver the PSV to Canadian-based Atlantic Towing…

ALMACO has supplied the galley equipment and provision stores onboard the new expedition ship Roald Amundsen, named after the famous Norwegian polar explorer, delivered this past June. Maersk Maker, the sixth and last of a series of six anchor handlers for Maersk Supply Service A/S, was delivered from Norwegian shipyard Kleven on Thursday.Built for operation in deepsea depths, the M-series vessel Maersk Maker had a naming ceremony at Kleven yard, with Rikke Eskjær as godmother. The vessel will leave Kleven in a few days, heading to Aberdeen and the spot market in the North Sea.Maersk Maker is of the Salt 200 type and has an open deck area of more than 800m2, with 102m2 covered deck area as well. She is also equipped with anchor handling winch of 450 tons.

Norwegian oil major Statoil has declared a one-year option for the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Viking Energy from April this year, in direct continuation of current contract. Eidesvik said on Monday that Statoil exercised a one-year option for Viking Energy. The extension is set to begin in April this year. The vessel will be prepared for shore power, and equipment for better fuel consumption measurement will be installed. Viking Energy was the world's first LNG-powered offshore vessel when it was launched in 2003. The propulsion system powered by natural gas reduces the emissions of CO2, NOx and sulfur-containing gases. The construction of the hull and superstructure was subcontracted to the Polish shipyard Maritim in Gdańsk from where it was towed to Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik…

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven said it has signed a contract with German based luxury yacht designer and builder Lürssen to collaborate for the delivery of a 100-meter-long exploration vessel newbuild for a non-disclosed customer. Kleven said the vessel will be built, partly outfitted and technically finalized at Kleven Verft in Norway, before final outfitting at Lürssen’s Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg, Germany. The Lürssen Group recently joined a group of investors to collectively inject nearly $40 million into Norwegian shipyard.

Norway’s Kleven has delivered a 116 m superyacht to its owner, Graeme Hart. The vessel left Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway this weekend, heading for Germany, where the final completion of the vessel is to be carried out by mid 2017. “It has been a great pleasure working with Mr Hart and his team on this magnificent project. We highly appreciate the trust they have shown us by placing not just one but two orders with Kleven, in what was a new segment for us,” said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven. The vessel is of type MT 5006 MKII ESV, designed by Norwegian ship design company Marin Teknikk in cooperation with Naval Architect Kyle Dick, of New Zealand based Oscar Mike Naval Architects.

Norwegian offshore shipping company Olympic Shipping has entered into a frame agreement with Canyon Offshore for the joint marketing and subsequent operation of the subsea construction vessel (SCV) Olympic Athene and Canyon’s ROV systems. Under the agreement the companies will work together to secure utilization for the vessel and ROV systems and services with third party clients. The framework agreement will operate initially for six months, with the potential to be evergreen thereafter. According to Olympic, the Olympic Athene has started its first job with a third party client in the U.S. Gulf under this agreement. Under this agreement, the Olympic Athene, formerly known as Olympic Boa, has already started its first job in the U.S. Gulf.

Norwegian ship builder Kleven launched its build no 370 today – a 116 metre long Expedition Support Vessel. This is the second vessel from Kleven to Mr Graeme Hart, and as with the first vessel, Mr Hart and his family attended the launch seremony at the yard in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The first vessel, 107 m long Ulysses, was delivered from Kleven Verft in 2015, and is now on her first cruise in the Mediterranean. The high specification vessel is of type MT 5006 MKII ESV, designed by Norwegian ship design company Marin Teknikk in cooperation with Naval Architect Kyle Dick of New Zealand based Oscar Mike Naval Architects. The vessel is specially designed for long expeditions in rough waters, and blends a robust, hard-working character with luxurious added extras.

Offshore construction vessel Olympic Bibby, build no. 371 from Kleven Verft, has been delivered to Norwegian shipowner Olympic Shipping. The vessel has a long term charter with Bibby Offshore, and its first job will be on the British sector of the North Sea. The naming ceremony was held in Olympic’s home harbor Fosnavåg April 9. The vessel measures 87.5  x 19m, making the entrance to the narrow harbor (22m wide) a spectacular sight. The vessel is of MT 6021 design from Marin Teknikk, has accommodation for 68 persons, and is purpose built for subsea inspection, maintenance and repair work.

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven announced its contract with De Beers Marine Namibia, part of De Beers Group, for the building of a specialized vessel for deep water mineral exploration, initially announced in October 2014, is expected to receive final approval in May 2015. The first of its kind vessel will be of MT 6022 design from Marin Teknikk. This design is proven within the offshore construction segment, but the newbuild for De Beers will include a wide range of tailor made equipment and features.

Viking Neptun was delivered from Kleven Verft to Eidesvik on February 17, and the naming ceremony was held in Stavanger on February 28. The vessel’s Godmother, Patricia Pilenko, broke the champagne bottle on Viking Neptun, which will now start operating on charter for Technip in the North Sea. The offshore construction vessel is the largest in Eidesvik’s fleet, and the largest ever built by Kleven Verft. Designed by Salt Ship Design, the vessel is 145 m long and 31 m wide and with accommodation for 150 persons.

Maersk Supply Service has exercised an option to add Rolls-Royce’s new Anchor Recovery Frames (ARF) to the supply contract awarded in December for deck machinery for six anchor handler vessels under construction at Norway’s Kleven Verft AS. Rolls-Royce informs that the contract marks the first reference for its next generation ARF, designed in cooperation with Maersk to optimize vessel safety and efficiency.
