Single Marine Access Solution for Offshore Ops

At the end of June, Damen Shipyards Group along with Ampelmann and VEEM hosted a Marine Access Event, where over two days delegates from both the offshore renewable and non-renewable industries had the opportunity to sail from IJmuiden in the Netherlands to experience the latest in marine access solutions. Inmarsat Expands Presence in Singapore

Inmarsat, has opened its new Singapore office, which is the company’s largest facility in Asia Pacific region. Inmarsat’s investment in the 1,700 suareq meter office in Toa Payoh, Central Region Singapore, sees the company’s regional hub providing a new solutions lab, demonstration capabilities, training rooms, a knowledge centre and support center, in addition to enhanced production and storage facilities. Damen Shipyards Group announced it worked with Delft University of Technology to design and apply the latest in the field of shipbuilding for the new prototype (search and rescue) SAR 1906 lifeboat, built for the Royal Dutch rescue organization KNRM. Videotel Present VOD Units to IMO

Two new Videotel on Demand (VOD) on board training units presented to the IMO on behalf of Videotel Marine International by Stephen Bond, Deputy Chairman and Nigel Cleave, Chief Executive Officer. Visitors to the IMO  on Tuesday were surprised to find an impromptu training session taking place in the Maritime Knowledge Centre when Mr Koji Sekimizu, Secretary General of the organization, was given a demonstration of Videotel’s second generation on board training system, Videotel on Demand (VOD) G2.

IACS Invite Comment on Draft Ship Construction Rules

The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has released the second draft of IACS harmonised Common Structural Rules (CSR). The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) is pleased to announce the release of the second draft of IACS harmonised Common Structural Rules (CSR) on the IACS website. As part of the agreed process of development, IACS invites Industry to offer comments on all parts of the draft Rules - prior to the end of August 2013. This second draft of the harmonised CSR builds on the first draft that was released in July 2012. The rule text has been further developed to take into account feedback received during the first review period although some of the more detailed comments are still being considered.
