Seminar on DNV GL DP Operator Training & Certification

Kongsberg Maritime Ltd, the UK subsidiary of global marine technology company Kongsberg Maritime, welcomed customers to its Aberdeen training centre on Thursday 30th June for a seminar on the future of Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) Training and Certification. Delegates from operators including Helix, V-Ships and Technip attended the seminar to find out more about the new KONGSBERG Training and Certification Scheme for DP Operators, which is certified by DNV GL and recognised by the industry. The seminar detailed how the KONGSBERG Training Scheme for DP Operators is a step-change in the critical area of DPO training, with teaching and assessor competence, and the use of advanced simulators forming the platform for training and certification.

Kongsberg Bags Orders for Upgraded Heli-deck Camera

Kongsberg Maritime Ltd. (KML) Camera Group announced it has been awarded multiple contracts to supply the recently upgraded Helicopter Observation Surveillance System (HOSS). The HOSS is designed for real time video monitoring of heli-deck operations in extreme low-light conditions aboard Naval Surface Ships and is fully qualified to meet US MIL standards. The history of the HOSS spans nearly three decades with many of the first produced units still in service and excelling in performance in the challenging environments they encounter, according to KML.

Offshore Surveyor Training: Kongsberg's New Workboat

Kongsberg Maritime says it has introduced a series of new on-water training courses for offshore surveyors and survey engineers following the launch of its own chartered vessel, 'True North'. The vessel will enable Kongsberg Maritime Ltd to introduce a practical element to the courses already offered at its training centre in Westhill, Aberdeen, on the company's products for the offshore survey industry. True North, which works out of Stonehaven just a few miles from the training centre, will initially support courses on the HiPAP (High Precision Acoustic Positioning) system. The vessel, which has been customised to Kongsberg Maritime's specifications, will enable attendees to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom.

Kongsberg to Offer Rental AUVs

Kongsberg Maritime Ltd announced at Ocean Business 2013 that it will add a number of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) to its rental pool during 2013 and 2014. The addition of AUV capability will further enhance the existing portfolio of Kongsberg Maritime Ltd rental equipment, which supports customers within the offshore oil and gas, environmental and renewable energy markets. Kongsberg Maritime Wins Contract for Tidal Stream Project

A contract has been awarded to Kongsberg Maritime Ltd. to conduct underwater noise studies for an offshore renewables project which could eventually lead to 400MW being installed in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth. The contract, awarded by MeyGen Limited, will involve Kongsberg Maritime Ltd. conducting both baseline and operational noise measurements from prototype tidal devices to assess the potential effects of underwater noise on marine life. “This is a major contract for Kongsberg Maritime Ltd., as the MeyGen Tidal Stream Project is one of the most significant tidal initiatives in Europe,” said David Shand, General Manager Offshore at Kongsberg Maritime Ltd.
