KRAL manufactures 3-screw pumps and 2-screw flowmeters, both of which are designed for liquids. Based on the experience with pumps, several years ago KRAL was the first company that launched a complete flowmeter series based on the screw-spindle principle. Furthermore, KRAL was the first manufacturer that introduced a hermetically-sealed, magnetically-coupled 3-screw pump. KRAL leads in the area of pump, fluid handling and flow meter technology with innovative solutions to meet industry demands.

Remote Monitoring: The Bottom Line for Fleet Optimization

By any yardstick, remote monitoring is fleet optimization in the new millennium. You’re all over it: optimizing your fleet. But, what does that mean? For some operators, it means making sure their mix of vessels meets the needs of their customers and the prevailing winds of the economy. For others, it entails reading the tea leaves just right when it comes to deciding on time charters or dipping one’s toes into the spot markets. Still others focus on the closely linked Holy Grail of reduced bunker consumption and minimal stack emissions. For all of these cool customers, however, “remote monitoring” will also be part of that equation. That said; defining what remote monitoring means is another thing altogether. Remote monitoring of on board metrics or data points is here.

Electronic Fuel Monitoring Alliance

Kral & Fuel Vision Monitors

Macsea's Fuel Vision announces that its system now works with KRAL rotary displacement flow meters for high-accuracy fuel monitoring. By combining Dexter Fuel Vision with the KRAL flowmeter, fuel data acquired aboard ships can be displayed in real-time throughout the vessel and also sent ashore to track fleet-wide energy conservation and emissions reduction efforts. Energy saving is a mandate in today’s shipping business climate and will likely continue well into the foreseeable future.

DFDS Utilizes KRAL Fuel Consumption Measurement

Shown: Dover Seaways, one of three DFDS RO-PAX vessels.

The United Steamship Company DFDS Seaways (Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab) from Denmark, a Northern Europe shipping group, has equipped three of its RO-PAX ships (Dover, Delft and Dunkerque-Seaways) with the fuel consumption measurement from KRAL. RO-PAX ships are combined ferries that transport both passengers and freight. In each ship the consumption of all four main motors, the power generation units and of the two burners are measured. Each fuel consumption measuring system has a BEM 500 electronic indication unit locally.

New Sensor System from KRAL

KRAL OMG 32

KRAL Flow Measurement presents the new sensor system with an expanded temperature range and higher resolution. Starting September 2012, there will be a new sensor for the Volumeter using KRAL Flow Measurement technology. The OMG, OMH and OME series are being optimized. The new sensor system increases the maximum temperature for OMG and OMH from 150 °C to 180 °C and provides better resolution. The innovative sensor is an all-in-one solution which measures flow amount, flow direction and temperature.
