Krishnapatnam Port, Maersk Launches Mainline Service for China

Krishnapatnam, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has marked another milestone towards operational excellence as it launched its weekly mainline service from China to Krishnapatnam Port. The service to be operated by Maersk line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea will provide the fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of China, Far East Asia and South East Asia. The current transit time for bulk cargo like furniture, office and hotel interiors which take 40-45 days to reach the consignee will be straight halved with the launch of the new service through Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal.

Containership Sets Sail on India-Bangladesh Trade

Krishnapatnam Port, an all-weather; deepwater port on India’s east-coast, earmarked a historic moment for India’s bilateral trade and commerce as the first direct container vessel, part of coastal shipping agreement to facilitate trade between India and Bangladesh, set sail from the port on March 28, 2016. The trade agreements which were signed during the reign of the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1974 were revived back after a period of four decades during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka last year.

Hanjin's First Service Call at Krishnapatnam Port

Hanjin Shipping India Pvt Ltd, the South Korean shipping conglomerate, made its maiden call at KPCT on 1st February, 2016. Vessel MV Hanjin Florida had exchanged 553 TEU out of which 109 TEU are imports and 444 TEU are exports. Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal, whose volume during Apr’15 - Jan’16 has already surpassed FY 2014-15 container volume, offers immense opportunities for new service calls to tap its huge hinterland. The Port Rotation for this service is: KRISHNAPATNAM – TANJUNG PELEPAS - SINGAPORE – QINGDAO – XINGANG – BUSAN – SHANGHAI – NANSHA. This service will cater to all import/export businesses ex INKRI (Port Code of Krishnapatnam Port) to Far East, USEC, USWC, Latin America, Europe and Inter Asia.

ACS Calls Krishnapatnam Port

HYUNDAI MERCHANT MARINE (HMM), the Korean conglomerate operating its ASIA CHENNAI SERVICE (ACS) made an ad hoc call at Krishnapatnam Port on November 26, 2015. ACS service which was launched in 2007 is a direct service ex Chennai to Port Kelang, Singapore, Shanghai, Busan, Ulsan, Hong Kong and Yantian. MV Hyundai Vladivostok Voyage 602E after sailing from Chennai on its east bound route called Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) on the 26th and sailed the same day carrying 498 export laden containers. This direct service to South East Asia and China will open up more destinations on East Bound Traffic for EXIM players in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana hinterland apart from Karnataka Western Region.

New BTL Import Connection from Colombo to KPCT

Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) has sailed in to a new frontier with the addition of Bengal Tiger Line’s (BTL) new Colombo feeder service (BOX-2) from KPCT. This new fixed day weekly service has a port rotation of Colombo - KPCT - Chennai and had its maiden call on February 7, 2014 with vessel M.V. Tiger Bridge. In recognition of the important and valuable role being played by KPCT’s employees in the success of the terminal, the port’s Senior Quay Crane Operator launched the new service. All NVOCCs, Liners can load on this service as it is a common carrier feeder vessel.

Maersk Line Commences New Service From KPCT

A solution providing dedicated road and railway lines, efficient terminal operations, world-class marine infrastructure, customer-centric approach, cost effective services was of utmost requirement to the Southern Andhra Pradesh, Eastern Karnataka, and Northern Tamil Nadu hinterland. These facilities define Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT). With such advantages, new Container line services are commencing from KPCT. Maersk Line, a  shipping liner company, made its maiden call at KPCT on January 29, 2013.
