Sovcomflot's Pskov Loads First Cargo from Yamal LNG

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Pskov completed loading at the Port of Sabetta (YNAD), with the first cargo of LNG produced from the second high-tech production line at the Yamal LNG plant.August 08 marked the launch of the second production train at Yamal LNG, which happened six months ahead of schedule.Pskov is a state-of-the-art Atlanticmax LNG carrier with a cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic metres. She was built to order for Sovcomflot Group in 2014, to transport LNG under a long-term time charter agreement with Gazprom. The vessel is currently sub-chartered to Yamal LNG and transports LNG from the Yamal Peninsula to Westā€¦

First Icebreaking LNG Carrier Ready for Service

The worldā€™s first icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, Christophe de Margerie, has berthed at the gas terminal at Sabetta Port in Russia, becoming the first vessel to do so. Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) in South Korea, the tanker was designed to order for SCF Group, specifically to serve Russiaā€™s Yamal LNG project, and transport LNG year round in the difficult ice conditions of the Ob Bay and Kara Sea. MAN Bags Danaos Shipping Propeller Order

MAN Diesel & Turbo has won the order to supply Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd. with fixed pitch Kappel propellers, propeller boss caps with fins, and Engine Power Limitation for two container vessels ā€“ the 8,500 TEU ā€˜CSCL Europeā€™ and ā€˜CSCL Americaā€™. Mr. Dimitrios Vastarouchas, Technical Director & Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Danaos said: ā€œAt Danaos we look forward to have the vessels upgraded. Our R&D Department has conducted very thorough investigations before concluding what the right upgrade solutions for these vessels are and we are confident that the vessels will be highly competitive in the market once upgradedā€. Both container vessels are powered by MAN B&W 12K98MC-C main engines rated at 68,520 kW at 104 RPM.

Upcoming Expo 'Offshore Marintec Russia'

ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg, October 7-10  will host the International Specialised Offshore Exhibition and Conference 'Offshore Marintec Russia' dedicated to the Arctic continental shelf infrastructure development informs official Russian news source Arctic-info. The trade show is organised under the authority of the Government of the Russian Federation. Offshore Marintec Russia serves as a new professional venue for demonstration of recent technical solutions in all aspects of exploitation of the Russian offshore deposits. The Exhibition and Conference will encompass the most relevant topics regarding development of marine, transport, energy and technological infrastructure of the continental shelf.

Gazprom, Sovcomflot Expand LNG Transport Cooperation

Gazprom and Sovcomflot named the new state-of-the-art 170,000m³ liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) Pskov, after one of the oldest Russian cities. The ship will be chartered to Gazprom Global LNG (GGLNG) under a long-term contract. The LNGC Pskov is the second vessel in a series of high-specification, ice class Atlanticmax LNG carriers that have been specially designed in accordance with Gazpromā€™s requirements, and will support Gazpromā€™s global commercial operations in the gas markets. The first LNGC, Velikiy Novgorod, was delivered and entered service in January of this year. The naming ceremony took place at the STX shipyard, South Korea.

Fincantieri Nets Pair of Diverse Russian Contracts

During the Italy-Russia Business Forum in Trieste, Italy, Fincantieri secured a contract to build a semi-submersible floating platform for the transportation of nuclear submarine reactor compartments. The company also signed an agreement to define plans for an advanced technology offshore energy drill-ship. Fincantieri has been contracted by RosRAO, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise for radioactive waste management, to build a semi-submersible floating platform for the transportation of nuclear submarine reactor compartments.

Brazilian Shipbuilder Urges Russia to Strengthen Maritime Ties

AMEC Kromav, the Rio de Janeiro-headquartered specialist company for shipbuilding and offshore activities, has urged Russian industry to take full advantage of Brazilā€™s multibillion dollar offshore industry opportunities. In a comprehensive presentation at NEVA in St Petersburg, Rosalo Sales, Director of Business Development & Strategic Planning at AMEC Kromav told delegates that the Petrobras Business Plan 2013-2017 had scheduled investments of more than $230 billion in Brazil (95%) and $11.7 billion (5%) overseas, with opportunities for annual contracts worth $28.4 billion alone in Brazil. ā€œThe current oil tanker fleet must go through a $101 billion or $14.2 billion per annum modernization program by 2020ā€¦

New Italo-Russian Shipbuilding Research Alliance

Fincantieri and the Krylov State Research Centre of Russia have signed a framework agreement with the aim of jointly developing new projects for technological innovation within the industry.
