Samsung Bags Order for Decks on Johan Sverdrup

Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup license, has awarded Samsung the contract for decks for both the process and riser platforms. The total contract value is NOK 7 billion. The contract is a fabrication contract (FC) of decks for the process and riser platforms. Aker Solutions has previously been awarded engineering work and purchase of equipment packages for the two aforementioned decks. The function of the process platform, which weighs approx. 26,000 tonnes, is to ensure stabilisation of the oil and processing into rich gas. The riser platform, which weighs approx. 22,000 tonnes, will serve oil and gas exports, water and gas injection, as well as any future connections.

Kvaerner, KBR JV wins Johan Sverdrup Deal

Kvaerner in a joint venture with KBR has signed a contract with Statoil for the complete delivery of the platform topside to the Johan Sverdrup field development. The agreement to deliver the deck for the utility and living quarter (ULQ) platform comes after a tough international competition, where Kvaerner-KBR presented the best overall bid. The agreement has an estimated total value for the Kvaerner- KBR partnership of approximately NOK 6.7 billion. The ULQ-platform is one of four platforms to the Phase One development of the Johan Sverdrup oil and gas field on the Norwegian continental shelf. Kvaerner-KBR joint venture will execute the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the ULQ topside as one complete delivery.

Kværner Yard to Upgrade H-6e Offshore Drill Rig

Norway's Kværner ASA informs that the  H-6e drilling rig 'Transocean Barents' will arrive Kvaerner's facilities at Stord this week for a two month yard stay. The main purpose of the stay is the five year classification of the rig, as well as upgrade and modification work. When the rig arrives, it will first spend a couple of days in the fjord outside Kvaerner's Stord facility. Once quayside, the campaign is expected to last for approximately two months. After the inshore work, there will be a short period of sea trials in Klosterfjorden. The Transocean Barents is an Aker H-6e sixth generation dual activity dynamically-positioned semi-submersible drilling rig designed to operate in harsh environments and water depths up to 10 000 feet.

Kvaerner Gets Offshore Spar Topsides Sub-Contract,

Hyundai Heavy Industries (Hyundai) has awarded Kvaerner a sub-contract to provide services for inshore and offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance for the topsides for the Aasta Hansteen spar project. The inshore-work will be carried out at Stord and the offshore scope will be done at the field in the Norwegian Sea 300 km west of Bodø. Kvaerner explain that the inshore work will be carried out during the first half of 2016 while the platform is moored at Kvaerner's deep water site in Digernessundet, close to Kvaerner's offshore yard at Stord.

Kværner to Play Part in Construction of Enormous Offshore Spar Platform

Norway's Kværner ASA say that Technip Norge AS has awarded them a sub-contract for the Fjord Base and Support Services up-ending and preparation for mating operations of the sub-structure for the Aasta Hansteen Spar platform. With a total length of 198 meters, Aasta Hansteen will be the world's largest spar platform, claims Kværner,  and the first of its kind on the Norwegian continental shelf. Statoil has contracted Technip and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in a consortium to engineer, procure and construct (EPC) the Aasta Hansteen spar substructure.

Oil Platform Hook-up, Commissioning Contract for Kvaerner

ConocoPhillips confirms options in the Eldfisk 2/7 S topside contract for Kvaerner to perform offshore hook-up & commissioning assistance. In March 2011, Kvaerner was awarded a contract by ConocoPhillips to perform engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the topside for the Eldfisk 2/7 S platform in the North Sea, with an estimated contract value of NOK 5.5 billion. ConocoPhillips has now confirmed options in the contract to perform offshore hook-up and commissioning assistance, which will add approximately NOK 400 million to the contract value. The topside consists of one combined living quarter and utility module and a combined process and wellhead module, with a total weight of 15,500 tons.

Kvaerner Announces Election of New Board Members

The Directors to Kvaerner's Board have been elected. From Kvaerner's first day of trading on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July 2011, the Board of Directors will consist of five shareholder-elected members as well as three members elected by Kvaerner's employees. The shareholder-elected members are Kjell Inge Røkke (chairman), Tore Torvund, Bruno Weymuller, Lone Fønss Schrøder and Vibeke Hammer Madsen. The employee-elected members are Rune Rafdal, Ståle Knoff Johansen and Bernt Harald Kilnes. Kjell Inge Røkke is an entrepreneur and industrialist, and has been a driving force in the development of Aker since the 1990s. Mr. Røkke owns 67.8 percent of Aker ASA through The Resource Group TRG AS.

Aker Kvaerner to Deliver Pusnes Mooring Equipment

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract for delivery of mooring winches and fairleads for Statoil's Gjøa Semi. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner. The work will be undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner Pusnes in Arendal. The contract involves supply of on-vessel mooring equipment for Statoils Gjøa Semi to be installed at the Gjøa field in the North Sea. The equipment, Roller Ram Winches and Fairleads for chain are to be delivered and installed at Aker Kvaerner Stord. Sixteen Roller RamWinches and sixteen underwater fairleads will be used to pull in and secure 150 mm chains used in the mooring lines. The equipment is based on Aker Kvaerner Pusnes' major experience in design and manufacturing of winches and fairleads for such kind of platforms.

Tronstad Named President of Aker Kvaerner Verdal

Nina Udnes Tronstad joins Aker Kvaerner as President for the offshore yard at Verdal. She comes from a position as Executive Vice President for HSE in Statoil where she has been a member of the corporate executive committee since April 2005. She will start 1 September 2007. She will report to Mr. Bjørnar Skjevik who will return to his position as head of Aker Kvaerner's fabrication yards. Ms. Ms. Mr. Bjørnar Skjevik continues in his role as head of the fabrication yards in Aker Kvaerner. Nina Udnes Tronstad will report to him. Nina Udnes Tronstad resides with her family at Inderøy, not far from Verdal. She joined Statoil in 1983 and has had a number of managerial positions in the Statoil, including at its Danish and Swedish subsidiaries.

Contract Signed for SemiSub Platform

Statoil and Aker Kværner has signed the contract worth approximately NOK 8 billion for the semisubmersible platform to be located at the Gjøa field offshore Norway. This is in accordance with the memorandum of understanding presented in Aker Kvaerner's disclosure to the Oslo Stock Exhange at 29 September 2006. The scope of work to be performed by Aker Kvaerner will be detail design of topside and hull, procurement, construction and hook-up of topside, and mating of topside and hull. Detailed engineering will be headed from Aker Kvaerner's office in Oslo, and a significant part of the engineering hours will be carried out by Aker Kvaerner's engineering entity in Mumbai in India. In total, more than 500 Aker Kvaerner engineers will be mobilised to design the platform.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Mooring Systems Contracts

Aker Kvaerner has recently been awarded contracts for the delivery of advanced mooring systems with a total contract value of $29.5m. The contracts comprise deliveries both to the offshore and marine industry. The work is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary Aker Kvaerner Pusnes in Arendal. The awards include delivery to the two advanced Aker Drilling H6e semi-submersible rigs to be built at Aker Kvaerner Stord and to five deepwater semi-submersible rigs to be built at Jurong's shipyard in Singapore. Manufacturing of the equipment will take place in Europe and Asia. The delivery dates are scheduled from 2007 to 2009.

Modular Cabins for Drilling Rigs

Aker Yards Piikkio has entered into contract with Leirvik Module Technology from Norway for the delivery of modular cabins for living quarters of drilling platforms. Leirvik Module Technology AS is one of the leading suppliers of living quarters for offshore industry. They have decided to use modular cabins of Aker Yards Piikkio in the construction of living quarters for two Aker H6-e drilling rigs. These sixth generation semi-submersible drilling rigs will be constructed by Aker Kvaerner Stord in Norway, and they will be the world's largest drilling rigs. The contract includes in all the delivery of 280 cabin units for two living quarters, as well as options for cabin deliveries for another two similar drilling rigs.
