Harland & Wolff Names General Manager for Appledore site

Belfast-based shipyard Harland & Wolff has appointed a new General Manager, Tom Hart to its Appledore site.Harland & Wolff, famous for building the Titanic, is today a multisite fabrication company, operating in the maritime and offshore industry through five sectors: commercial, cruise and ferry, defense, oil & gas, and renewables and six services: technical services, fabrication and construction, decommissioning, repair and maintenance, in-service support and conversion.Hart joins Harland & Wolff (Appledore) from Dubai-based Drydocks World where he was Director of Projects & Engineering.

Dockwise Bags Marine Transport Contracts Worth $50 Mln

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Dockwise has recently been awarded a number of marine transport contracts with a combined contract value of approximately $50 million. Dockwise was awarded a contract by Husky Oil Operations Ltd. for the transportation of the West White Rose Topside from Texas, U.S. to Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The contract includes the engineering, preparation and execution of the loading, transport and discharge operation of the topside. The topside will be skidded onto a large barge, which in turn will be floated onto the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Dockwise Vanguard that will transport the cargo to Newfoundland and Labrador. The transport is expected to take place in 2021.

Bahri Acquires VLCC Amjad

Amjad, a 300,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea, has become the latest addition to Bahri's growing fleet of 84 vessels of various types. Bahri took delivery of the VLCC, its 37th, in a ceremony held at HHI’s Mokpo shipyard in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. Bahri CEO, Ibrahim Al-Omar, Hyundai Heavy Industries’ President and CEO, M. K. Yoon and President and COO, Sam H. Ka, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to South Korea, H.E. Riyad Almubaraky, Bahri Oil President, Naser Al-Abdulkareem, and other senior officials from both organizations attended the special two-day celebrations.

Lamprell to Implement Software for Automated Manufacturing

U.A.E based offshore jackup rig builder Lamprell Energy Ltd., will implement SSI's EnterprisePlatform software solution to allow its engineering team to automate manufacturing processes. Acording to SSI (developer of ShipConstructor software), the immediate benefit will come from streamlining and automating Lamprell's processes used to control robotic machinery on the production floor (e.g. CNC Profiling Machines) based on information from the engineering department's ShipConstructor-based product data model.

Greatship’s Subsidiary Takes Delivery

Greatship’s subsidiary takes delivery of a mobile offshore self elevating drilling rig, Le Tourneau Super 116(E) – ‘Greatdrill Chaaya’. Greatship Global Energy Services Pte. Ltd., a Singapore incorporated subsidiary of Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has taken delivery of a mobile offshore self elevating drilling rig, Le Tourneau Super 116(E) – ‘Greatdrill Chaaya’ from Lamprell Energy Ltd., UAE. Greatdrill Chaaya is an independent Leg Cantilever type Jack up rig with 15000 PSI pressure rating, designed to operate in water depths of up to 350 feet. She is a state of the art cyber rig, built with the latest technology, equipments and systems.

First Steel Cut for Liftboat ‘Seajacks Hydra’

A ceremony marked the event at Lamprell’s Hamriyah Dubai facility. The self-elevating, ‘Seajacks Hydra’ has been specifically designed for installation and maintenance services in the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors. The vessel will be equipped with a high speed jacking system, a 400t crane and able to operate in water depths up to 48m. Lamprell Energy has built all three of Seajacks’ current vessels; ‘Kraken’, ‘Leviathan’ and ‘Zaratan’, delivering each on time and on budget.

Noreq Orders Worth $3.5M

Noreq AS has seen several new contracts signed, worth a total of $3.5m, in the last few weeks. In addition to the size of these contracts Noreq is happy to announce that we have managed to enter new important markets. - We have won a contract of enormous importance with world's biggest shipyard, Hyundai, in Korea. This is really a milestone for Noreq, and shows that the development of our new davit system has been a right initiative. Hyundai has ordered four lifeboats and four sets with rig davits.

LeTourneau, Lamprell Contract for Newbuild Jack-up Kit

LeTourneau Technologies, Inc. announced the sale of a second LeTourneau Super 116E Class jack-up rig kit to Lamprell Energy, Ltd., with final delivery expected by the end of 2008. The rig is to be built at Lamprell's Hamriyah facility located in the United Arab Emirates for Scorpion Offshore Ltd. Lamprell is currently building an initial Super 116E Class jack-up at the same location, also for Scorpion Offshore, under a license from LTI. This order is the 18th for the popular LeTourneau Super 116 series of jack-ups. The Super 116E Class is one of five current LTI jack-up rig designs, and an evolution of the LTI's industry workhorse 116-C Class design. The Super 116E provides up to 2,000 kip greater payload than its predecessor.
