As the Augsburg based engine maker claims, “A cylinder output of 1,300 kW this engine puts us to the top.” The largest version of the new engines is a 20-cylinder unit (20V45/60) comes with a limit-pushing power output of 26 MW. The new MAN 45/60CR range is a striking combination of top performance, operational flexibility and reliability.

A new entry to the EAL lubricant race emerges from RSC Bio Solutions. Deep roots, new technologies and familiar names create the basis for a different way of approaching marine lubricants. It isn’t surprising that RSC Bio Solutions, a provider of environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs) and cleaners, chose the SMM 2016 trade exposition in Hamburg, Germany as the platform to launch its newest product. That’s because SMM provided an appropriately large platform for a firm that has deep roots in the chemical and degreaser markets, but perhaps not the name recognition of its higher profile competition. With roots dating all the way back to 1924, and leveraging the acquisition of another now-familiar lubricants firm – Terresolve Technologies – this isn’t RSC Bio Solutions’ first rodeo.

RSC Bio Solutions exanded its EnviroLogic 800 series of biodegradable greases. The EnviroLogic 800 series are VGP compliant, biodegradable Lithium Complex greases designed to operate in severe outdoor environments and withstand corrosion. RSC Bio Solutions is introducing EnviroLogic 800 and EnviroLogic 801 greases to further compliment the already established EnviroLogic 802, allowing the company to offer solutions for additional applications when specifications call for NLGI grades #0 and #1.

Industrial Power Systems, Inc. (IPS) announced the retirement of Jerry Steinberg, after almost 16 years with the company as its Vice President – Sales & Marketing. Jerry is being replaced by Michael Phelan as its new Director of Sales & Marketing. Jerry graduated from the University of Illinois in 1961, and immediately after graduation joined Cummins Engine Co., where he had several domestic positions in Columbus, Indiana before moving into their International Sales organization with time living in both London, England and Sao Paulo, Brazil. This was followed by a number of years with Waukesha Engine, ending as their VP – Sales & Marketing. Jerry then had a number of years in the distribution business, working with both Power Equipment Inc. in Ohio and Reagan Equipment Co. in Florida.

Parker Hannifin Corporation(NYSE: PH), provider of motion and control technology, announced that it has acquired Aqua Pro, Inc. a manufacturer of reverse osmosis("RO") filtration systems for military, commercial and pleasure marine applications. Aqua Pro sales for fiscal 2008 were $33m. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings within its first year following acquisition and its results will be reported as a component of Parker's Industrial North America segment. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. With manufacturing centers in Gardena and San Fernando, California, Aqua Pro does business as Village Marine Tec and Offshore Marine Laboratories. Sales and service locations are located in California, Florida, Hawaii, Virginia, and Washington.

France Telecom is pushing hard to advance its position as a single source communications and IT services provider. Corporate consolidation and technological evolution in the maritime satcom domain continue to subdue pricing, helping to level the playing field among service providers. France Telecom, in an effort to tilt the competitive balance in its favor, is embarked on an aggressive campaign to differentiate itself from the competition by positioning itself as a one-stop communication and an IT solution provider, an effort backed by an impressive R&D effort geared to delivering simple-to-use, customer driven solutions. "The challenge is to have our range of value added services, to have them known, understood and used," said Ghani Gehloul, Marketing Director, Maritime.

The North Kingstown-based Senesco Marine, previously known as the Southeastern New England Shipbuilding Corp., has been acquired by Reinauer Transportation Companies LLC, according to a report in the Providence Business News - www.pbn.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The North Kingstown company formally changed its name to Senesco Marine in October 2003, when it also announced it was streamlining its design and construction procedures to speed delivery. It is headquartered in the Quonset Business Park, where it has a fully paved 25-acre new-construction facility, with more than 215,000 feet of covered floor space, and a 6-acre repair facility with a 1,200-foot-long pier in 35 feet of water.
