Kongsberg to Equip Triumph Subsea's New Field Development Vessel

Norwegian maritime tech and equipment company Kongsberg Maritime (KM) will deliver a large technology package for Triumph Subsea Services' field development vessel (FDV).Triumph Subsea Services in December 2020 signed a contract with the Croatian shipbuilder Brodosplit for the construction of the vessel, with options to order three more.Kongsberg Maritime said Thursday it had signed a Letter of Intent with Brodosplit Shipyard and DIV Group in Croatia to deliver a large technology package for the vessel.

Kongsberg Tech for China-built Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Unit

Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has signed a Letter of Intent with Chinese shipbuilder Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore to deliver a large technology package for the BT-220IU Wind Turbine Installation Unit.The offshore installation vessel BT-220IU is to be constructed for the Norway-based company OIM Wind, with an option for another vessel of identical design. The vessel, expected to be delivered in 2022, will be suitable for transporting and installing multiple sets of next- and future-generation wind turbinesā€¦

General Dynamics Upgrades RVSS for CPB

General Dynamics successfully completed the initial field deployment and test of the Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) upgrade for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This test demonstrated many technical capabilities of the RVSS system and is a key program milestone in its deployment schedule. U.S. Border Patrol agents are currently operating the RVSS in Nogales, Ariz., and CBP has also initiated deployments in both Naco and Douglas, Ariz. "The Remote Video Surveillance System is a critical element of our overall plan to secure the border, increase our mission effectiveness and protect our agents," said Mark Borkowski, assistant commissioner and chief acquisition executive of CBP's Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition.

MHI, SBG Invest in Wind Energy Startup Altaeros Energies

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. ("MHI") and the Suhail Bahwan Group ("SBG") have invested in Altaeros Energies, a Massachusetts-based technology company, to support the design and production of its Buoyant Airborne Turbine ("BAT") renewable energy and communication platform. MHI and SBG bring deep strategic expertise in developing and executing large technology projects for industrial and government customers around the world. The Altaeros BAT offers a multi-purpose platform to supply power, telecommunication, and other sensing and security services to remote and off-grid customers. Aker Solutions establishes office in Gothenburg

International oil services company Aker Solutions takes its subsea business to Sweden through establishment of an office in Gothenburg. The objective is to tap into the Swedish engineering market to help further grow Aker Solutions' subsea business. The global subsea oil and gas market is expected to grow significantly over the next decades, driven particularly by field developments in deep and ultra-deep waters. Having access to a large base of engineering resources with appropriate technology know-how will be vital to meet Aker Solutions' ambitious growth targets.
