The German shipping company United Heavy Lift (UHL)  Hamburg has taken over a modern Heavy Lift fleet of nine eco-friendly F900 newbuildings.The vessels each have a cargo capacity of 14,100 dead-weight tonnes and are capable of lifting loads of up to 900 tonnes. Being built in 2018 and 2019, most of the nine vessels have only just hit the water. They are sailing under the Portuguese flag.“Our mission is to expand our company’s position as front-runners for an eco-friendly Heavy Lift shipping industry. The fleet of nine newbuilding F900 vessels is a perfect match for our sustainability policy. J.M. J.M. Baxi Group, a 100-year-old group of companies specializing in maritime logistics and port infrastructure, has commissioned United Heavy Lift for the commercial management of its newly constructed deck carrier, the MV Vir Varenya. Set to expand its footprint in the South Asian market, Hamburg-based United Heavy Lift (UHL) appointed strategically placed Lexicon Overseas Pvt Ltd. as its General Agents in India, to help ramp up operations from Mumbai. With two vessels calling at Mumbai port each month the company has plans to increase the number gradually and add other Indian ports to their schedule. Lars Rolner, Managing Director of UHL who is in Mumbai since last week along with some of the heads of the company’s various divisions said, “India today is whole different country from what I saw in 1985. The industry is set to grow and so the infrastructure in the ports. I find there are large projects just on the doorstep of India, especially the whole Middle East region.

United Heavy Lift GmBH& Co. KG, Germany commenced operations on 1st April, this year. Lars Rolner, the former owner and Managing Director of SAL established United Heavy Lift this February in Hamburg. They are agents to a fleet of currently 18 HLVs with a lifting capacity ranging from 300 to 800 mts. The vessels are trading on a worldwide basis, with a main focus on Europe, Middle-East, Far-East as well as Africa & USA. Heavy Lift carrier Mv Lena J called Mumbai and Kandla ports to discharge & load project cargoes respectively. She loaded 2 Liquid Nitrogen Storage Vessels manufactured by INOX India admeasuring 34.00 X 5.20 X 5.30 meters and weighing 196 metric tons each.

SAL Heavy Lift has opened the doors of its new head office at Brooktorkai 20 in HafenCity, Hamburg. The premises sprawl over the 6th floor, and 116 employees are working there. SAL Heavy Lift, a member of the Japanese “K” Line Group, is one of the leading heavy lift shipping companies worldwide. For more than 30 years, SAL Heavy Lift had been based in Steinkirchen on the Lower Elbe, 40 kilometers outside of Hamburg. From now on, SAL Heavy Lift will operate its fleet of 16 heavy lift vessels from Hamburg’s HafenCity. SAL Schiffahrtskontor Altes Land has put the new building MV ‘Lone’ into service. Just three months after the German-based heavy-lift shipping company has sent the MV ‘Svenja’ - the world’s largest heavy-lift vessel - on its maiden voyage, the company’s fleet has now been expanded by a second vessel of the same Type 183. Just like its sister vessel, the heavy lifter was built at Sietas shipyard in Hamburg in six months. It has a lifting capacity of 2,000 tons and a speed of 20 knots. While the MV ‘Svenja’ features a Dynamic Positioning System 1 (DP1), the MV ‘Lone’ is equipped with a DP2.
