L&T Wins Orders for Six Ships

L&T Construction has won new orders worth `1471 crores across various business segments in November & December 2013. In Power Transmission & Distribution Business, orders valued `686 crores have been received in both domestic & international markets. A major international order was bagged by Larsen & Toubro Saudi Arabia LLC, a fully owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited for construction of a 132 kV transmission line and connection of Al-Dawadmi S/S to the 132 kV Riyadh Network. Mitsubishi to License Shipbuilding Tech to India

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has agreed with L&T Shipbuilding Limited (LTSB), the shipbuilding arm of India's Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), under which MHI will provide a broad range of technological support to LTSB for construction of commercial vessels. Caterpillar Powers Indian Coast Guard Patrol Boats

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems was recently selected to supply the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with 72x Cat 3516C marine propulsion engines (2525 bkW @ 1800 RPM, ‘D’ Rating) and 72x C4.4 auxiliary generator sets (86 eKW @ 1500 RPM) to power 36 Interceptor Boats, which will be built by Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), Mumbai. L & T Select NAPA for Naval Ship Design

Napa Group, a Finnish software company that develops innovative computer systems for ship design and naval architecture, has established a subsidiary company, Napa Software Services India Pvt. Ltd, in . The purpose is to increase the strength of Napa`s product development, as well as offer local services to the Indian market. ’s client base in is also expanding: Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) chose for the design of warships. The company will also provide training and technical support services locally for present and future Indian users of the system. These services will commence in a few months once the first persons with naval architectural background have started with the company.

L&T's Shipbuilding Installs PLM Solution

L&T will adopt integrated PLM solutions from Dassault Systemes for its heavy engineering division. The solutions will integrate L&T's stand-alone design automation and project management tools, increasing efficiency and savings potential across the division. DS's end-to-end PLM solution will be implemented by L&T's IT arm - L&T Infotech. L&T will apply DS's solutions to processes for the shipbuilding business segment. The deployment includes: CATIA, for designing the virtual product; ENOVIA VPLM, 3D collaborative virtual lifecycle management for highly complex products, resource and manufacturing processes; and ENOVIA MatrixOne, collaborative product development business processes for enterprises.
