Tugboat Captain Medevaced in Brownsville, Texas

Coast Guard Vessel Collides with Pleasure Boat in Florida

A U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boat and a 23-foot pleasure craft with five people aboard were involved in a collision Saturday near Manatee Pocket, in Florida.As a result of the collision, the pleasure craft began taking on water and became submerged in the channel.The people aboard the pleasure craft were embarked by the Coast Guard boat crew and taken to Sandsprit Park.One person from the pleasure craft was reported to be injured and was transported to Martin County Memorial Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Injured Tug Captain Medevaced Near Key West

The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced the captain from the tugboat, Capt. Beau, after he reportedly sustained a fall near Long Key, Fla., Wednesday.Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Station Marathon 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boat crew who embarked the captain and transferred him to local emergency medical services at Conch Key Marina. The 52-year-old patient was taken to Fisherman's Hospital.Watchstanders received a medevac request from the Capt. Beau crew stating the captain of the vessel fell and sustained an injury.

Mexican Fishing Boat Seized Following 30-mile Chase

U.S. A Mexican fishing boat, also known as a lancha, was seized by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in the waters off South Texas, Monday. At 11 p.m. Sunday, an Air Station Corpus Christi aircrew aboard an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane located a lancha 20 miles north of the U.S./Mexico maritime border and 30 miles offshore. The aircrew vectored in the Coast Guard Cutter Seahawk and a 33-foot law enforcement boat from Station South Padre Island; the lancha was chased for 30 miles before it stopped south of the maritime border.

USCG Rescues 4 Mexican Poachers

Coast Guard crews rescued four Mexican nationals from their sinking boat Saturday, after they were spotted illegally fishing north of the U.S./Mexico maritime border. At approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, a crewmember aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Brant, an 87-foot coastal patrol boat, spotted a Mexican boatcrew poaching fish in the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone, 30 miles off South Padre Island. Sector Corpus Christi Command Center watchstanders diverted a crew aboard a Station South Padre Island 33-foot law enforcement boat and diverted an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew to intercept. The aircrew vectored in the law enforcement boat and cutter. The Brant's crew intercepted and stopped the lancha, but the lancha began to take on water.

A U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Mounted Police law enforcement boat crew conducted the first Shiprider patrol of the 2014 Great Lakes boating season, Thursday, in Lake Erie. The Shiprider Program allows U.S. and Canadian maritime law enforcement officers to embark together on joint patrols to integrate operations on and near shared maritime borders. Law enforcement officers from Coast Guard Station Belle Isle, Michigan and a RCMP officer from Windsor, Ontario, embarked on a Coast Guard 45-foot response boat for the patrol in Lake Erie.

Viking Welding Delivers Fire/Rescue Boats

Fire Departments in South Carolina and Minnesota have recently accepted delivery of Response FR-28 and FR-31J boats built of welded aluminum by Viking Welding & Fabrication in Kensington, N.H. The boats were designed by Response Marine in Newburyport, Mass. The FR-28 specifications were developed by Mount Pleasant Fire Department in South Carolina to improve firefighting and rescue capability in the coastal areas surrounding Mount Pleasant, which include Charleston Harbor, Gray Bay and Hamlin Sound. San Diego Boat Collision: Coast Guard Final Report

A Coast Guard boat operator failed to drive his boat consistent with standard navigation and operating procedures. The boat collision that killed an 8-year-old boy and injured 10 other boaters, on Dec. 20, 2009, ocurred during the San Diego Parade of Lights in San Diego Harbor, according to the Coast Guard final action memo. A Coast Guard 33-foot Special Purpose Craft – Law Enforcement boat was responding to a report of a grounded sailing vessel in the harbor when it collided with a 24-foot Sea Ray recreational boat carrying 13 people in San Diego Harbor. The Weakest Link

(BMD) has provided hull, structural and outfitting design for two recent Workskiff built boats, a 25’ RIB law enforcement boat and a 31’ RIB salvage and towing vessel. “We’ve been fortunate to partner with Workskiff on these two projects as well as many others over the years. Their boats help clients meet the challenges faced on the water and efficiently operate in all weather conditions,” said Nick Boksa, President of Boksa Marine Design. Zodiac of North America, Inc., is launching their new Zodiac Enforcer line of RIBs tailored to the needs of marine law enforcement agencies. South Padre Island Gets New Law Enforcement Boat

Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station South Padre Island, Texas, glide through the waters of the Gulf of Mexico in a 33-foot high-speed boat here on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. The station received three of these new boats in July of this year to increase the unit's law enforcement capabilities. The boat features three engines with 275 hp each.
