Multraship, Novatug Name 2 CRTs

Netherlands-based towage and salvage provider, Multraship, has held the christening ceremony for two new Novatug Carrousel Rave tug (CRTs) at Rotterdam.Multratug 32 was christened by Mrs Muller-Ribbens and Multratug 33 by The Netherlands Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Honourable Coravan Nieuwenhuizen.The CRTs offer radical improvements in safety and operational efficiency and will help with the optimization of port usage. The CRTs are able to work with seagoing vessels at much higher speeds than conventional tugs without the risk of capsizing under a tow-load.The sister vessels were delivered in 2018 by Netherlands shipyard Damen Maaskant.

Multraship Naming Ceremony for Damen Tugs

Dutch towage company and maritime services provider Multraship Towage & Salvage has carried out christening ceremonies at its home port of Terneuzen in the Netherlands for its two new Damen-built tugs – one of which is the first IMO Tier III-compliant tug in Europe.The vessels are a Reversed Stern Drive (RSD) Tug 2513 and an Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) Tug 3212, which were officially named Multratug 6 and Multratug 29 respectively. Multraship Continues Fleet Growth

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship says it is continuing to grow its fleet with a number of new additions to its varied range of vessels.On July 7, the 453-gt firefighting tug Multratug 31 was christened at Terneuzen in the Netherlands. Multraship’s New ASD Tugs Named in the Netherlands

Two Damen ASD 3212 tugs for towage and salvage specialist Multraship have been named on June 24 at Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The Multratug 29 and Multratug 30, named respectively by Rita de Ruijter- Ribbens and Els Otten- Muller,  were built at the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam, and operate for Multraship as sister vessels to Multratug 19. The 32-meter tugs, which have a bollard pull of 82 metric tons, are notable for their sea-keeping behavior, maneuverability and towing characteristics, the shipbuilder said.

Multraship Orders Damen Tugs at Europort

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship, through its 100-percent-owned subsidiary Novatug BV, has commissioned the construction of two Carrousel Rave Tugs (CRTs) as well as a new ASD 3212 tug from Damen Shipyards Group. Officially ordered today at a signing ceremony at Damen’s stand at the Europoort exhibition in Rotterdam, the new vessels aim to provide operators with more power, more freedom and more durability, as well as eliminating the risk of capsizing under a tow load.

The International Salvage Union Weighs In

Current issues in marine salvage: the ISU perspective. There have undoubtedly been great improvements in ship and operational safety in the past decades. ISU Honors Costa Concordia Salvors

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Houston-based subsidiary TITAN Salvage and Italian engineering partner Micoperi were honored with the International Salvage Union (ISU) Meritorious Service Award during the organization’s Associate Members’ Day Conference in London. The award was presented by ISU President Leendert Muller in recognition of TITAN and Micoperi’s outstanding service to the salvage industry during the successful execution of the largest single maritime wreck removal project ever to be undertaken, the Costa Concordia.

New Hybrid Tug Joins Multraship Fleet

Dutch towage and salvage specialist Multraship has welcomed into its fleet Multratug 28, an energy efficient hybrid Damen ASD 2810-type tug with FiFi 1 firefighting capabilities. Damen’s ASD 2810 Hybrid is a new design, and this is the second of its class to be built. Featuring diesel-direct, diesel-electric and battery-powered propulsion systems, this hybrid configuration will enable Multraship to lower fuel costs by up to 30 percent and emissions by up to 60 percent, the company said.

ISU Publishes Annual Review and Statistics

The International Salvage Union has published is Annual Review for 2013 which formally sets out the governance and work of the ISU which is the global trade association representing the interests of its members who are marine salvors. The ISU Annual Review includes a summary of the annual statistics collected from its members to provide an overview of the state of the salvage industry. The 2013 figures show a substantial industry with total revenues, not profit, of more than $700 million, up from just over $600 million in the previous year.

A Call for Vessel Refuge Guidelines

Shipowners, Salvors and Insurers – through their respective trade associations – have jointly called for the prompt and proper implementation of international measures to provide a Place of Refuge for stricken vessels, following a series of incidents where casualty vessels have been delayed in accessing a safe harbor. The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) said that it has noted “with dismay” the refusal by some coastal States to make places of refuge available, thereby risking lives and the environment even after the high profile cases of the Stolt Valor and the MSC Flaminia in 2012.

Multraship’s Muller Appointed President of ISU

Leendert Muller, managing director of leading towage and salvage specialist Multraship, has been appointed the new president of the International Salvage Union (ISU). The appointment was confirmed at the annual general meeting of the ISU in Hong Kong on October 24, 2013. Muller, who has been a member of the ISU Executive Committee since 2008, and vice-president since 2011, succeeds Andreas Tsavliris, who will continue as a member of the ISU Executive Committee.  John A Witte Jr., of Donjon Marine Co Inc., was confirmed as vice president of the ISU. multraship.com

Multraship Strengthens Fleet with ASD Tug

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship said it has further strengthened its multipurpose fleet with the addition of the ASD tug Multratug 20. Multraship has contracted with international broker and consultant DSB Offshore for the long-term bareboat charter of the 72-ton bollard-pull vessel, which was built by the Bogazici Shipyard in Turkey in 2010 and is equipped to undertake a range of services including towage, escort, anchor-handling, fire-fighting and salvage. Multratrug 20 has two Schottel SRP 1515 propulsion units and is powered by two Caterpillar 3516B engines.

Multraship confirms its purchase of the two tugs now being constructed in Romania for delivery in June/July 2013. Contracts for the two tugs, to be named Multratug 26 and Multratug 27, were signed during the course of Multraship’s recent annual client gathering in Terneuzen. Multraship Taking Delivery of Damen ASD 3212 tug

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship is to take delivery of a new design of ASD 3212 tug from the Galati, Romania yard of the Damen Shipyards Group. The new ASD 3212 Multratug 19 has been built to a completely new design specification developed after a period of intensive research. Multraship’s specification called for a tug with minimum 80 tons bollard pull (BP), able to serve specific market segments. During its initial sea trials, Multratug 19 achieved over 83 tons BP and a speed of almost 15 knots. Final tests will be carried out in The Netherlands.

Multraship Utilises Floating Sheerlegs To Salvage Fishing Trawler Off Dunkirk

LEADING towage and salvage specialist Multraship has salvaged the fishing trawler Nieuwpoort 28 (N28) which capsized off Dunkirk on March 1, using its recently upgraded floating sheerlegs Cormorant to successfully complete a challenging operation. Multraship Takes Delivery of New Damen Tug

Towage and salvage specialist Multraship has bolstered its fleet of specialised tugs and multi-purpose vessels with the addition of the Damen newbuilding ASD 3213 tug Multratug 3. On September 30, the vessel will embark on its delivery voyage from Vietnam, where it was built by Damen Shipyards, to Terneuzen, Multraship’s home port in The Netherlands. Multraship Refloats Grounded Barge

Netherlands-based towage and salvage specialist Multraship reported on Dec. 8 that it had successfully refloated the Stema Barge II after the 443 ft long vessel grounded in shallow water inbound to the Dutch port of Eemshaven with a cargo of rocks following the loss of its tow to the tug Hellas on November 16. After initial attempts by local tugs to refloat the barge had proved to be unsuccessful, Multraship was contracted on November 25 under a Lloyd’s Open Form 2000 agreement incorporating SCOPIC.

Ultraship completes VEBO takeover

Multraship Towage & Salvage has acquired a majority share in VEBO BV, the holding company of Verenigde Bootlieden BV and Vebocab BV, the leading boatman/mooring service provider in the port of Terneuzen. The takeover will have no adverse consequences for the 38 employees of VEBO, which specialises in the mooring and unmooring of vessels and in the provision of helmsmen services and taxi and waterborne transportation services. Multraship, which specialises in towage & salvage services, sees the takeover as a logical addition to, and expansion of, its services to the maritime community in the Zeeland Seaports area and on the River Scheldt. For Verenigde Bootlieden, the takeover represents a guarantee of its long-term survival.

GE to Power New Tug for Multraship

Dutch towage and salvage group Multraship and GE Marine announced that GE's 12-cylinder 7FDM diesel engines have been selected to power a new tugboat being built for Multraship. shp. 2005. "We selected GE Diesels for this application based on proven low life cycle costs, reliable operation, fuel efficiency and recent ABS certification," said Leendert Muller, managing director of Multraship Towage & Salvage, Terneuzen, The Netherlands. Manison, general manager of GE Marine, Erie, Pa. rotated freely from the tug's hull. tug's propulsion by means of complex thrusters. The first Carrousel tug was a retrofitted vessel.
