Maersk to Convert Ship to Dual-Fuel Methanol

Svitzer Names Uppelschoten Snelderwaard COO

On 1 December 2020, Ingrid Uppelschoten Snelderwaard will take up the role as global COO of Svitzer A/S, reporting to CEO Kasper Friis Nilaus. She will be based in Copenhagen.Uppelschoten Snelderwaard joins Svitzer from her current position as Global Head of Equipment and VP at Maersk and takes over from Svitzer’s current COO, Leonardo Sonzio, who will be moving on to become Maersk's Head of Fleet Operations.Uppelschoten Snelderwaard holds a degree in Economics and Languages from Hogeschool Zeeland, and a degree in Business Management from Nyenrode University in the Netherlands.

Wärtsilä Awarded TT-Line Exhaust Gas Cleaning Retrofit

Wärtsilä has been contracted by German-Swedish ferry operator TT-Line to retrofit an exhaust gas cleaning system to its Ro-Pax vessel, the M/S Robin Hood as part of TT-Line's Green Ship strategy. Retrofit Solutions for Exhaust Gas and Water Cleaning

Upcoming environmental regulations will affect existing vessels, and as a consequence there is a growing demand for exhaust gas cleaning and ballast water treatment systems. Retrofitting both scrubbers and ballast water management systems is – or will soon be – required for many ships to comply with regulations. There are retrofit solutions available across all ship types, from cruise vessels to merchant and offshore ships. Space requirement is usually the most critical factor when planning and executing a retrofit project but Wärtsilä has found solutions to the challenge.

Wärtsilä Scrubbers for Three More Color Line Ships

Wärtsilä has been contracted to retrofit its Open Loop Scrubber systems on three additional vessels owned by Color Line, Norway's largest cruise and ferry operator. With the latest contract, Wärtsilä's now has 36 shipsets, totalling 75 scrubber units, either already installed or in the pipeline. Each vessel will be fitted with four systems designed to rid the ships' exhaust gases of harmful sulphur oxide (SOx) and particulate emissions. Wärtsilä: Catalytic Converters for Multipurpose Icebreakers

Wärtsilä was contracted by Finland-based Arctia Offshore Oy to carry out modification work to two of the company's vessels. The contract was signed in September 2011. The turnkey project involves the fitting of combined Wärtsilä NOx Reducer (NOR) and Oxidation Catalysts (OXI) to the MSV Fennica and MSV Nordica, both of which are multi-functional vessels based on a modified icebreaker design.
