Liebherr Sees Growing Demand for Harbor Cranes in Latin America

Liebherr said its mobile harbor crane population in Latin America is quickly growing with more than 50 order intakes in four years. Despite volatile exchange rates, the 2014 year is another strong one for Liebherr in Latin America. In the last year, the strongest mobile harbor crane available in the market, type LHM 600, has been the most successful Liebherr model in Latin America. In summer 2014 two LHM 600s started operation in Chile. Compania Portuaria Mejillones S. A. opted for their second Liebherr mobile harbor crane. The LHM 600 is based on a special design.

Algeria Orders 20 Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes

Liebherr Maritime Cranes has received an important order for its mobile harbor crane range from Algeria, Africa. A purchasing association of Algerian port operators has opted for 20 Liebherr mobile harbor cranes (LHM). The purchasing association consists of seven Algerian port companies, which decided to invest in innovative and high-quality port equipment. The mobile harbor cranes will be delivered to various destinations at the Algerian coast, which are Algiers, Annaba, Béjaia, Ghazaouet, Mostaganem, Oran and Skikda.

Continued Success for Liebherr Cranes in Latin America

The Latin America region continues to invest in advanced port equipment, as Liebherr Maritime Cranes recently received orders for seven additional mobile harbor cranes (LHM), type LHM 550, LHM 600 and LBS 600. Liebherr reported 2013 success in the same region, receiving 12 orders in 12 months for the company’s strongest mobile harbor crane model, the LHM 600. Capable of servicing vessels up to 19 container rows wide, the LHM 600 provides a maximum outreach of 58m and a maximum lifting capacity of 208 metric tons. Liebherr Reports Harbor Crane Success

Mobile harbor cranes (LHM) once again contributed strongly to the overall success of Liebherr Maritime Cranes. The 2013 year ranks amongst the most successful ever. Various highlights characterized the year, including the remarkable order intake for the 600 series in Latin America and the launch of the Liebherr Maritime Cranes simulator range. Latin America has a clear preference for Liebherr’s largest mobile harbor crane model, type LHM 600. In the last twelve months twelve units of this model have been sold in the Latin American market.

Liebherr Boosts Middle East Cargo Handling

Recent orders for Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes (LHM) from the Middle East include two LHMs and the first LiSIM LHM550 unit for the region, paving the way for state-of-the-art crane operator training. Additionally, one Liebherr Reachstacker has been delivered to the region. Traditionally, the Middle East/India/Africa region (MIA) has represented a very important market for Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes (LHM). In 2013 alone, Liebherr counted more than 40 mobile harbor crane sales. The company has now delivered well over 300 LHMs to MIA in total.

Liebherr Mobile Harbor Crane Review 2012

In 2012 Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes achieved the highest annual turnover in history. In addition to this remarkable success, Liebherr received the IBJ Innovative Technology Award and the State Prize Clean Technology Austria, acknowledgements for its innovative strength and environmental awareness. Moreover, Liebherr reached a remarkable milestone with the delivery of its 1000th mobile harbour crane. Liebherr has received the Innovative Technology Award for its LHM Noise-Control Initiative at the IBJ Awards 2012.

In a highly volatile business environment, Liebherr’s Mobile Harbour Crane Division delivered satisfactory operational performance. In 2009, deliveries amounted to 74 Mobile Harbour Cranes and thus were 27% below those of the previous year’s period. In comparison the total MHC market including all manufacturers dropped ~40%. To complete the picture, this decrease has also to be put in relation with the figures of the previous years. From 2005 to 2008 LHM deliveries showed an average, annual increase of 24%, which is 16% over the total MHC market growth average.
