Harren & Partner Names Nils Aden Managing Director

German shipping and logistics group Harren & Partner announced it has hired Nils Aden as managing director, effective May 1.Aden brings to the role more than two decades of know-how as a shipping industry executive in the industry, with experience from leadership positions in international ship management, transformation projects, M&A transactions and integration. In his previous assignments, he overlooked the merger of V.Ships and Norddeutsche Reederei H. Schuldt as Managing Director, led Zeaborn as CEO and transformed E.R. Schiffahrt as CEO into an international ship management player.

Mammoet Signs Offshore Wind with NY Port

Dutch heavy-lift firm Mammoet  has reached an agreement that will enable it to provide offshore wind services at the Port of Coeymans Marine Terminal, in New York.The collaboration allows Mammoet access to the port’s 400-acre marine terminal facility, which is owned and operated by Carver Companies , in Coeymans, New York, conveniently located along the Hudson River 100 miles North of NY City and 10 miles South of Albany, NY.Over the years, Mammoet has developed a relationship with the Port of Coeymans while utilizing the port during the execution of local projects such as the roll-off operation of a fully assembled HRSG module, and the Willis Avenue Bridge project just to name a few.With the agreement…

Skarfjell becomes tie-back to Gjøa

DEA and its partners in PL418 have selected a subsea tie-back to the Gjøa platform as the concept for development of the Skarfjell discovery in the Norwegian North Sea. This alternative is an enabler for developing the Gjøa platform as a stronger hub in the area and maximising recovery for Gjøa, Skarfjell and the area in general. Skarfjell is situated in the northeastern North Sea, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the Gjøa platform. DEA is partner in Gjoa, with a share of 8%. Based on the proposed plan, hydrocarbons from the Skarfjell reservoir will be transported from a subsea template to the Gjøa platform for processing and export. Gjøa would also provide gas lift services to the field and water injection for pressure support to a second template.

Sea Trucks Awarded Contract Offshore Ghana

Sea Trucks Group said it has secured a contract award from Tullow Ghana Limited for the provision of a Construction Support Vessel (CSV) providing Accommodation and Heavy Lift services to the turret moored FPSO Kwame Nkrumahe, located in the Jubilee Unit Area, 60 km offshore Ghana. The scope of work covers accommodation for up to 120 company pax. The scope also includes the heavy lift of two 50 Ton fairlead chain stopper foundation block structures, a 34 Ton mooring pull-in winch and other smaller lifts.

Sea Trucks Awarded Contract in Mexico

Sea Trucks Group has secured a charter for the Jascon 31 from Permaducto S.A. de C.V. (Protexa) for the provision of Accommodation and Heavy Lift services in the Gulf of Mexico. Sea Trucks will provide accommodation and lifting services in support of repair works at Pemex Line 221 at the Abkatun-A Platform in the Abkatun field in the Gulf of Mexico for a period of 50 days. After completion Sea Trucks will provide similar services at Pemex Lines 63a and 65 in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap Field for a period of 42 days plus options.

Port of Everett Seaport Adds Lift Capacity

The Port of Everett Seaport is adding additional lift capacity to its operations in March 2015, with the purchase of a new, 150-ton GHMK 7608 mobile harbor crane. The nearly $5.1 million investment, which was authorized by the Port Commission, will allow the Port of Everett to better accommodate its niche market of overdimensional cargoes, and provide opportunity to compete for new heavylift business. “We are investing in our infrastructure and cargo handling equipment to continue with our reputation of safe and excellent service, quick and efficient turnaround times and huge lift capacity,” said Carl Wollebek, the Port of Everett’s Chief Operating Officer.

Fossil Fuel Recovery to Benefit from New Technology

New York - Considerable investment is being ploughed into oil and gas enhanced production services in the hope of increasing production efficiency in a market in which global hydrocarbon consumption is only expected to increase, according to market intelligence experts GBI Research. The new report shows that the application of enhanced production techniques, such as the artificial lift technique in upstream production processes, and sand control services, will considerably improve the percentage recovery of oil and gas from onshore and offshore reservoirs. Artificial lift services picked up the pace in 2011 as a result of increasing oil and gas demand, which brought about the need to enhance production above levels achieved from naturally flowing reservoirs.

BISSO Marine Attains ISO 9001:2008 Cert

BISSO Marine has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification of its Quality Management System. BISSO Marine received the ISO 9001:2008 certification after being assessed by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. The certification is the first piece of an expanding certification program for the company. Sealift Changes Name to Dockwise Ltd.

At the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders today, shareholders approved the name change of Sealift Ltd to Dockwise Ltd. This name change will take on July 31. Willbros Purchases Barge for West African Marine Work

Willbros Group Inc. subsidiary, Willbros West Africa Inc., has added to its available offshore fleet with the completion of the purchase and refitting of the WB 82. The WB 82 is a 100 ton derrick/work barge, 78.8 meters (256 feet) in length overall (LOA), with an 8 point anchor system and accommodations for up to 135 persons. The WB 82 will join the WB 318 combination derrick/lay barge and the M/V Eros support vessel in providing comprehensive construction services to the Nigerian offshore market, with the current backlog assignment expected to last through the second quarter of 2002.
