JUB Pacific Bolsters Liftboat Fleet

GDI, Dolphin Energy Sign Offshore Drilling Rig Services Contract

Qatar’s Gulf International Services (GIS), the leading service group, has announced that its subsidiary Gulf Drilling International (GDI) has signed a contract with Dolphin Energy for drilling rig services. The contract was signed by Mubarak A al-Hajri, managing director and chief executive officer and Hassan al-Emadi, general manager, Dolphin Energy, Qatar. The work under this contract will be performed by the high spec jack-up rig "Al Jassra" and will consist of drilling three wells on the DOL 1 production platform located in offshore waters of Qatar. The service will commence this month. GDI has provided liftboat services to Dolphin Energy in the past and noted that its new liftboat "Al Safliya" is set to commence working for Dolphin Energy under a five-year contract later this month.

N-KOM delivers First Newbuild Liftboat

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) reports that it has delivered its first liftboat unit, Al Safliya, to Qatari rig operator Gulf Drilling International (GDI). Al Safliya is the first liftboat to be wholly constructed in Qatar at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma shipyard The self-propelled and elevating unit has been customized for operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in water depths of up to 65m. “GDI is pleased with the quality delivered by N-KOM for the liftboat Al Safliya," said Mubarak Al Hajri, the MD & CEO of GDI.

Swissco Acquires Its First Liftboat

SGX Mainboard-listed Swissco Holdings Limited, an integrated, international marine services provider, announced it has acquired its first liftboat for approximately $56 million. The self-propelled liftboat, which will be owned and managed by the group, is expected to be completed within two years and deployed in Southeast Asia. The contract, signed with a Southeast Asian shipyard, includes owner-supplied equipment. The liftboat will be able to operate in water depths of up to 70m and has accommodation for 120 offshore personnel.
