KOTUG Takes Full Ownership of Its Bahamas Towage JV with SEACOR

Svitzer Europe Appoints Hellström as Chief Commercial Officer

Effective 1 December 2020, Mattias Hellström, currently Svitzer’s Managing Director for Scandinavia and Germany, becomes CCO of Svitzer Europe

Svitzer Europe announced that Mattias Hellström has taken up the role of Chief Commercial Officer from December 1, 2020, reporting to Svitzer Europe’s Managing Director, Lise Demant. Hellström has more than 25 years of experience in shipping and towage, and joined Svitzer Europe in 2014 as Managing Director for Scandinavia. Damen Signs Contract with Multraship

At the  Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, Multraship and Damen signed a contract for the build and delivery of two Damen Stan Launch 804s. The new launches will be operated by Multraship subsidiaries Montis Mooring Boatservice BV and Verenigde Bootlieden BV. Verenigde Bootlieden BV and Montis Mooring Boatservice BV provide boatmen and other specialist marine services in the port of Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The new acquisitions will provide among others line handling services in the Terneuzen port area. The 8.62-meter  Stan Launch 804s are specially modified versions of the class.

Qatari Shipyard Lays Keels for Stan Tugs Pair

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has laid the keels for two 16-metre long Stan Tugs, part of a seven-vessel order for marine services provider Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW). A ceremony to mark this step in the shipbuilding process was held at NDSQ’s facilities located at Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar’s Port of Ras Laffan. The two twin-screw Stan Tugs have a bollard pull of 15 tonnes and will be used for mooring vessels visiting the Port of Ras Laffan.

The Jensen Marine “HandySize” Class Tug

Designed by Jensen Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and built by the Great Lakes Shipyard of Cleveland, Ohio a 74-foot workboat is quickly making a name for itself; in and out of the water. The “HandySize” Class Tug was designed to fill the niche between the 2,400 to 3,200 HP market for harbor workboats, fireboats, and construction operations and coastal towing, too. The Tug model 2800 is powered by two Cummins QSK38,1400HP diesel engines rated at 1800 rpm, providing a total of 2,800 HP – or in order words, just right for those niche tasks assigned to a Great Lakes workboat.

Multraship buys Bulgarian Towage Company

Multraship Towage & Salvage has purchased Bulgarian towage and salvage operator Bourgas Tug Services. BTS provides harbor towage, local salvage and line handling services in and around the Bulgarian port of Bourgas. It has a fleet of four tugboats ranging from 1,500 - 4,300 bhp and fifty employees. Leendert Muller, managing director of Multraship said, "This is an important step for Multraship in developing our presence in the Black Sea. substantial benefits to shipowners using the Black Sea ports. Multraship is a leading independent Dutch towage and salvage company. It operates and manages a fleet of 26 tugs, salvage vessels, floating sheerlegs and other craft.
