Otto Candies Orders FibreTrac Offshore Crane from MacGregor for Wyatt Candies Vessel

Cargotec's subsidiary MacGregor has won a contract with the U.S. offshore support vessel owner Otto Candies to deliver an active heave compensated FibreTrac offshore crane.The order was booked in Cargotec’s 2022 first quarter order intake, with delivery expected to be completed by the end of the year. MacGregor told Offshore Engineer that the crane would be installed aboard the Wyatt Candies dive support vessel.The scope of supply includes full delivery of the 150t AHC crane, rated for the client's needs at 100t lifting capacity, together with Lankhorst Lanko®Deep Dyneema DM20 fiber rope for 3400m operational depth."The crane is the first of its type and provides the ability to lift heavy loads at depths that normally require much larger cranes on larger vessels…

Intermarine Appoints Alejandro Pla as Mexico Manager

Intermarine, LLC, a global leader in the transport of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, has named Alejandro Pla as Country Manager – Mexico. He will be based in Mexico, City. Maersk Fights to Stay on top as Containership Downturn Deepens

Denmark's Maersk Line is fighting to remain the world's no.1 container shipping carrier as a wave of mergers and acquisitions, particularly in Asia, creates new challengers trying to grab a bigger share of a depressed market. Maersk itself hasn't made a major acquisition for more than a decade but says it might be open to "the right opportunity", although doubters believe such deals risk accumulating ships without securing enough customers. A unit of oil and shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk , the line has a 15 percent share of the overall container market.

Maersk Line Names Hahnemann Chief HR Officer

On August 1, 2016, Ulf Hahnemann, current Vice President for Strategic Programs at Mars Inc. will join Maersk Line as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and be part of the management board of Maersk Line. Maersk Line’s current Chief Human Resources Officer, Michael Chivers, resigned in January 2016 to explore opportunities outside of the Maersk Group. He will leave by the end of May 2016. As of August 1, 2016, Maersk Line’s management board will consist of Søren Skou, Chief Executive Officer; Vincent Clerc, Chief Commercial Officer; Pierre Danet, Chief Financial Officer; Ulf Hahnemann, Chief Human Resources Officer; Jakob Stausholm, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer; and Søren Toft, Chief Operating Officer.

Port of London Bridge Simulator Upgraded

The Port of London Authority (PLA) has invested £250,000 to upgrade its ship’s bridge simulator, adding a full tug bridge simulator in a move that is set to enable a boost in port trade and helps terminals verify their expansion plans. The Thames is the U.K.’s busiest waterway, handling more than 45 million metric tons of cargo a year. For over a decade the bridge simulator has been an essential tool for training the PLA pilots who guide ships to and from their berths on the Thames.

Nordana Names Rickmers-Linie as China Representative

Nordana Project and Chartering and Rickmers-Linie, Hamburg announced that Rickmers-Linie represents Nordana in China effective as of March 17, 2016. With this step, the two companies extend an already existing partnership which began in June last year when Rickmers (Japan) Inc was appointed as the sole General Agent of Nordana Project and Chartering in Japan. The Rickmers-Linie Representative Offices in China will support Nordana on marketing in China and will also coordinate documentation including agency services through sub-agencies.

Maersk Line, WMU Partnership to fight Corruption through Education

Every year maritime government officials from across the world travel to Malmo, Sweden, to enrol at the World Maritime University (WMU). The WMU was founded by the International eMaritime Organization (IMO) in 1983 and holds a unique position as the only institution focused entirely on maritime education, research and capacity building. One thing has been missing from the curriculum, however, and through a donation and partnership with Maersk Line, courses on corruption awareness and business integrity will now be mandatory for all students. Announcing the partnership today also marks the United Nations International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December. The project, titled CORA, has been long underway, explains Kristin Berglund, Senior Legal Advisor in Maersk Line.

Maersk Line Names Danet CFO

Pierre Danet, current vice president and regional CFO of Hewlett Packard, Printing and Personal Systems in EMEA, will join Maersk Line on April 7 as chief financial officer (CFO) and be part of the management board of Maersk Line, the company announced today. Maersk Line’s current chief strategy, finance and transformation officer, Jakob Stausholm, will continue in the role of chief strategy and transformation officer.

Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation Ltd (Keppel T&T) has strengthened its Board with the appointment of Mr Lim Chin Leong as an independent, non-executive Director with effect from 1 September 2014. Mr Lim will also be a member of the Nominating Committee and Board Safety Committee. Maersk’s SeaLand Sets Leadership Team

SeaLand, the newly founded intra-Americas regional carrier of the Maersk Group, announced today the appointment of its executive team which the company sais will fulfill its mission of delivering greater service stability and commitment, as well as a higher level of customer-focused service tailored to the customer’s needs. The new appointees are Alfredo Di Palma, Maria Batista, Shane Sawyer, Thiago Covre and Timothy Child, who will all be on board within the next two-three months, joining SeaLand CEO Craig Mygatt. Mr Philip Maguire, BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, will be a member of the Wärtsilä PowerTech management team and report to Lars Hellberg, President, Wärtsilä PowerTech. He succeeds Mr Osmo Härkönen who will retire at the end of January 2013. Rickmers-Linie, part of Hamburg’s Rickmers Group, has extended its executive board. Rüdiger Gerhardt has been appointed Managing Director and Ulrich Ulrichs becomes Deputy Managing Director. Mr Gerhardt has been working for Rickmers since 1978. Previous to his new position, he was Director for Human Resources, Administration and Finance. His new role will also include leading the business division “Logistics Services“ at Rickmers Group. Mr Ulrichs has been in charge of Line Management since 2005 and has been Director of this division since 2008.

In a move to add extra underwriting expertise to its New York team and further enhance its growing presence in Asia, the American P&I Club’s managers have recruited a well-known Asian specialist. Chris Hall joins Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc., New York, on September 1. He will be vice president – underwriting, reporting to Stuart Todd as head of underwriting in this capacity. Hall has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong with the Skuld Club since 1999 when he joined its Hong Kong office. Latterly, in Hong Kong, he was vice president, marketing, and senior lawyer.

Ulrich Ulrichs is Appointed Managing Director of Rickmers-Linie

Rickmers-Linie, part of Hamburg’s Rickmers Group, has promoted Ulrich Ulrichs to the position of Managing Director. Mr Ulrichs joined Rickmers-Linie in 2005 when he took over responsibility for Line Management. In 2008 he became Director of this division before being appointed Deputy Managing Director in August 2011. Mr Ulrichs will work alongside Rüdiger Gerhardt, who has held the title of Managing Director since 1 July 2011 as well as Head of Logistics Services for the Rickmers Group.
