National Geographic Endurance Arrives Ulstein

The first polar newbuild in the history of Lindblad Expeditions National Geographic Endurance arrived in Ulsteinvik, Norway, Tuesday after traveling nearly six days from Gydnia, Poland, where the hull was constructed.The workers at Ulstein followed closely the hull arrival of the polar expedition cruise vessel, said a press release from the shipyard situated in Ulstein Group's primary base of operations, Ulsteinvik.National Geographic Endurance is the first X-BOW polar vessel to be built at the yard. The Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic vessel will now undergo comprehensive outfitting work.The hull will be transferred to the yard’s dock hall, where insulation work and electrical installations will commence.

Wison Launches Buoyant Tower Solutions with Storage

Wison Offshore & Marine has developed a new Buoyant Tower solution with condensate or oil storage, adopting Wison’s proprietary Buoyant Tower technology. This floating concept provides a new economic and reliable option for the oil and gas development in the shallow to medium-depth waters. Originally invented by Ed Horton and Lyle Finn, the Buoyant Tower technology was first applied to BPZ CX-15 project offshore Peru when both Ed and Lyle worked for Horton Wison Deepwater Inc. (HWD), now renamed as Wison Offshore Technology Inc.

Jim Hannon is Chief, Operations and Regulatory Division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). He also provides leadership and oversight for activities within the USACE Lakes and Rivers and North Atlantic Regional Integration Teams.
