LR Grants AIP for Ammonia FSRU

MAN Powers World’s First LNG-fueled Bulk Carrier

The world’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled bulk carrier, the 50,000 dwt newbuild Ilshin Green Iris, is powered by state-of-the-art technology from MAN Diesel & Turbo. World’s First LNG-fueled Bulk Carrier Delivered

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) and ILSHIN LOGISTICS delivered the world’s first LNG-fueled bulk carrier under the dual-class of Lloyd’s Register (LR) and Korean Register. The 50,000 dwt bulk carrier has also been verified to be in compliance with the International Gas Fuel (IGF) Code. The vessel is the result of a collaboration project, announced in July 2016, to develop the first in a new generation of environmentally-friendly LNG-fueled bulk carriers. The ship has a Type ‘C’ LNG fuel tank with a capacity of 500m³, made of austenitic high manganese steel and located on the aft mooring deck.

GTT Wins Prelude FLNG Work

France's GTT has won a contract to provide membrane cargo containment system services to Shell's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in the Browse basin off western Australia. The contract will provide support for the engineering, inspection, maintenance as well as testing of the containment system. The Prelude FLNG facility recently arrived at its location 475 km northeast of Broome where the hook-up and commissioning phase of the project is underway.  Prelude FLNG has a liquefied gas storage capacity of 326,000 m3. It has 10 tanks (six for LNG and four dedicated to LPG), each equipped with the membrane containment system Mark III developed by GTT.

Development Agreement Reached for Mobile Powership

Polaris Shipping Co., Ltd., Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd., Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and Siemens Energy Solutions Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding at COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul on December 10, 2013 to develop Mobile Powership, an integration of shipbuilding and power generating technology in which a highly efficient power generating facility will be installed onto a FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) for the very first time in the world. It is expected that Mobile Powership will commence its operation in December 2017 with total investment of $940 Million.
