The U.S. Navy has awarded Bollinger Shipyards a contract to build four additional Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vessels (MCM USV). On Monday, the new ocean transport barge Holland arrived at Electric Boat’s Groton Shipyard. The barge was purpose-built to support delivery of Columbia class ballistic missile submarines. General Dynamics Electric Boat is the prime contractor on construction of the Columbia class.The Holland was designed by Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) and constructed by Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, of Lockport, La. The namesake of the new barge is John Holland, the Irish-born immigrant who designed the first submarine purchased by the U.S. Navy.

The U.S. Coast Guard has exercised a contract option to award Bollinger Shipyards four additional Sentinel-Class Fast Response Cutters (FRC). This announcement brings the total number of FRCs awarded to Bollinger up to 64 vessels since the program’s inception. Bollinger Shipyards on Saturday christened the Holland, an ocean transport barge for General Dynamics Electric Boat. The Holland will support the construction and maintenance of the United States Navy’s Columbia Class ballistic missile submarines and Virginia Class fast attack submarines. Bollinger Shipyards will build four more Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters (FRC) for the United States Coast Guard after U.S. President Trump last Sunday signed into law the omnibus spending bill for Fiscal Year 2021, which included funding for four more such vessels.This increases the total number of funded boats to 64, Bollinger said.“It’s a great honor to have the confidence of the U.S. Congress to continue the work we’re doing in support of the U.S. Coast Guard,” said Bollinger Shipyards President & CEO Ben Bordelon.

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. announced that it was awarded a contract valued at over $142,000,000 to build an additional three Sentinel Class, 154-ft patrol boats, for the U. S. Coast Guard. The initial contract for the design and construction of the lead ship in the class was awarded to Bollinger in September 2008. Under the current contract options, the Coast Guard can buy up to thirty-four patrol boats with Bollinger for a total value of over $1.6b. The Sentinel Class cutters will replace the 110-ft Island Class that Bollinger built in the 1980’s.

Bollinger Shipyards has been granted a contract to build two 145.5 ft. (44.3 m) supply/utility vessels for Seacor Marine of Houston, Texas. Construction will commence at Bollinger's Lockport, La. facility in April and May with delivery of the vessels scheduled for November and December 2001. Yet-to-be-named, each vessel will measure 145.5 ft. (44.3 m), with a 36 ft. (10.9 m) beam and maximum drafts of 10 ft. (3 m). They will be powered by two Cummins KTA-38MO diesel engines developing a total of 1,500 bhp at 1,600 rpm, driving Bollinger 72-in. x 57-in. stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc reverse/reduction gears. Two 99 kW Cummins generators driven by two Cummins diesels will produce electrical power in each.

Bollinger Shipyards has announced the signing of a multi-vessel contract with Rigdon Marine Corporation. Bollinger will build ten platform supply vessels (PSV) for Rigdon Marine, based on a new GPA 654 Class, designed by Guido Perla & Associates. The design incorporates increased carrying capacity and greater operating efficiency, compared to similar sized vessels, while at the same time allowing simplified construction methods to reduce construction cost. All ten vessels are planned to be built at Bollinger’s Lockport La. facility.
