PIL, IBM to Implement Electronic Bill of Lading

Descartes Acquires KSD Software

Descartes Systems Group, a global company in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, acquired KSD Software Norway AS (KSD), a Scandinavia-based provider of electronic customs filing solutions for the European Union (EU). The EU customs compliance market is characterized by a complex framework of member states; each with different regulations, languages and systems. Transportation carriers, logistics intermediaries and shippers have looked to technology partners, like Descartes and KSD, to help them manage this complexity. KSD brings more than 1,300 customers to Descartes’ Global Logistic Network, with the majority of these companies based in Scandinavia.

Konecranes Receives Container Handling Crane Order

In March 2011 Konecranes received its first container handling crane order from South Africa. Transnet Capital Projects, a specialist unit of South African rail, port and pipeline company Transnet Limited, ordered three RMG (rail mounted gantry) cranes to be used for intermodal operation in Johannesburg. The RMG cranes will be delivered to the City Deep Container Terminal in Johannesburg in 2012. “We are extremely proud of this first RMG order to South Africa and to Transnet,” says Antoine Bosquet, Sales Director, WEMEA, Port cranes at Konecranes.

Sinotrans Joins CGLN Bringing Over 200 Offices

Sinotrans Ltd. of the People’s Republic of China, has agreed to join China Global Logistic Network, (CGLN).  As a flagship of integrated logistics in Sinotrans Group, Sinotrans Ltd. inherited its over fifty-years of experience in logistics and transportation, customer base and brand.
