Gulf Craft Makes a Splash with New Luxurious Yachts

UAE-based yacht and boat builder, Gulf Craft has made three global launches of latest super yacht - the Majesty 122, the Nomad 65 and 75 from the new collection of yachts designed for the passionate seafarer. Three new luxury yachts worth a total of Dh53 million were unveiled by Gulf Craft on the first day of the Dubai International Boat Show on Tuesday. Measuring 37.5m in length, with a fuel capacity of 25,250 litres, Majesty 122 costs a staggering $11m (Dh40.40m). It can accommodate up to 10 guests and has five spacious ensuites with an extended balcony and fly-bridge. "By globally launching the Majesty 122 in Dubai, where people have a true appreciation for the waterfront lifestyle, we continue to bring that experience to our customers," said Mohammed Al Shaali, Chairman of Gulf Craft.

Linde Group to Supply for LNG Tankers

Cryostar, a subsidiary of The Linde Group, has won an order from Samsung Heavy Industries totaling more than $50m. As part of this order, Cryostar will supply on-board boil-off gas reliquefaction plants for five LNG tankers to be built by 2008. The modern membrane carriers with a cargo capacity of 265,000 cubic meters will be the largest ever built and are destined for LNG trade between Qatar and the U.S.A. The larger the vessel, the more important the boil-off gas management for the LNG. It is stored on board at -163° C, in order to ensure that the maximum cargo is delivered. Cryostar, who provide both the reliquefaction process design and the majority of cryogenic equipment, developed the plant's unique low power consumption technology.

Hempstead Navigation Takes Kittiwake

Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc. (W&D) delivered Kittiwake, a 72- x 20- x 10.5-ft. Offshore Motor Vessel, to Hempstead Navigation Service LLC of Exeter, Rhode Island. The vessel, which is designed for long distance travel, has a .375-in. steel hull and an aluminum deckhouse. Hempstead Navigation Service's core business has been contracting the delivery of military and commercial vessels worldwide, and compass adjusting and repair when not otherwise at sea. With the delivery of Kittiwake, company owners Robert Hempstead and Letitia Davis, a husband and wife team, plan to expand their business to include training in advanced navigation, seamanship and shiphandling aboard Kittiwake. Additionally, they plan to operate her as a research platform for smaller research projects.

Washburn & Doughty Win Contract

Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc. of East Boothbay, Maine signed a contract to design and build a 72 x 20 x 10.5 ft/ Offshore Motor Vessel (Hull 76) for Hempstead Navigation Service LLC. The vessel, which is designed for long distance travel, will have a steel hull (5/16" shell) and an aluminum deckhouse. Hull 76 will feature a Caterpillar 3406E main engine rated at 450 hp at 1,800 rpm. The vessel is designed to travel at 10 knots and will use a Twin Disc 5114 close-coupled reverse gear with a 4.1 to 1 reduction ratio, a 4-in. Aquamet 22 shaft, and a 48-in. five-blade NiBrAl propeller. Two generators, a Northern Light model 984 K (32 kW) and a Northern Light model M844K (16 kW), will fulfill the vessel's electric power requirements.
