Liquid Hydrogen SOV Concept Unveiled

Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has unveiled a concept for a first-of-its kind service operations vessel (SOV) that runs on liquid hydrogen.The French-headquartered company said it has been working alongside Norwegian naval architecture firm Salt Ship Design as well as main equipment suppliers, fuel providers, class and flag authorities, and others to produce the concept—with support from the European Commission.The groundbreaking SOV, currently in the concept design phase, would be able to operate 95% of the time with zero carbon emissions, only releasing water during standard operations.

LD Tide Orders Hybrid-ready CTV from Strategic Marine

France-based LD Tide has ordered a new crew transfer vessel (CTV) from Singaporean aluminum boat builder Strategic Marine.The newbuild will by a hybrid-ready StratCat 27 (SC27) designed by BMT.LD Tide, joint venture between top French shipping company Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) and UK-based partner Tidal Transit, currently owns and manages a fleet of three CTVs to transfer technicians to the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, about 20nm off the coast of France.The SC27 order is the first the company has placed for a vessel to be built at a non-French yard.According to the builder…

An innovative kite system is being put through its paces on board a cargo ship crossing the Atlantic as wind propulsion takes off for commercial shipping as a means to reduce fuel burn and harmful environmental emissions.The system, called Seawing, has been developed by France-based Airseas, and is currently being trialed on the 154-meter ro-ro vessel Ville de Bordeaux, which is operated by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) and chartered by Airbus, Airseas' minority shareholder and launch customer.As the ship transports aircraft components between Europe and the United States…

Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Sells 13 Bulk Carriers

French family-owned shipowner the Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group (LDA) siad it has reached a deal with partners Groupe Roullier and Peugeot Invest and institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Global Alternatives’ Global Transportation Group and the Dubai-based shipowner MUR Shipping BV, for the sale of a fleet of 13 handysize and supramax bulk carriers.The ships will be gradually delivered to their future owner in the coming weeks, LDA said.

Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, Tidal Transit in Another French Offshore Wind Farm Vessel Deal

Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and Tidal Transit have signed a contract for another Crew Transfer Vessel for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, offshore France. The wind farm site is owned by Eolien Maritime France SAS.The order follows a similar order signed in December 2020, when  GE  ordered two such vessels from Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and Tidal Transit. As the first two crew transfer vessels, this third vessel will be designed by naval architect Mauric and built by French shipyard Ocea.

Ocean Yield's Dry Bulk Vessel La Loirais Sold

French shipping firm Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has sold the "La Loirais" bulk-carrier to an unnamed third party. The news of the sale was shared by Ocean Yield.Vessel owner Ocean Yield and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs in 2018 entered a long term charter for the handysize dry bulk vessel that should've kept the vessel busy until March 2030."Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has declared an option to sell La Loirais to an unrelated third party and the transaction was completed today,"Ocean Yield said it would receive proceeds of USD 16.2 million and record a small book profit from the sale.The 39,800 dwt vessel was built in China by Jiangmen Nanyang Ship Engineering in 2018.

GE Orders Two Crew Transfer Vessels for French Offshore Wind Farm

GE Renewable Energy Offshore Wind (GE) has ordered two crew transfer vessels destined to serve the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm in France.GE has ordered the vessels from Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and Tidal Transit. The two crew transfer vessels will be designed by naval architect Mauric and built by French shipyard Ocea. LD Tide, a joint venture between Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and Tidal Transit will operate the two CTVs for the transfer of maintenance technicians to the Saint-Nazaire wind farm.

A new service operations vessel (SOV) was launched at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey for French vessel owners Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA).Upon delivery in 2021, the 84-meter SOV Wind of Hope will go to work for Danish wind energy giant Ørsted servicing its Hornsea Two offshore wind farm, with accommodations for up to 64 technicians who will service and maintain the wind turbines and an additional vessel crew. The ship is expected to arrive at Ørsted’s east coast operations and maintenance facility at the U.K.

Schottel will provide a range of propulsion systems for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs's second wind farm service operation vessel (SOV) the Wind of Hope.The new walk-to-work vessel, a sister vessel to the Wind of Change SOV, is currently under construction at Cemre shipyard in Turkey and will enter service operating under a long-term contract with Ørsted.The propulsion system of the vessel designed by Salt Ship Design vessel is powered by four diesel generators, which drive the electric motors of the Schottel propulsion package.

Pronomar Equips Louis Dreyfus SOVs
