U.S. Court to Decide Who Will Control Citgo

Damen Workboats for Fratelli Neri Fleet Expansion

Italian towing company Fratelli Neri S.p.A. has expanded its fleet with the delivery of three new Damen workboats. The trio of vessels will be based in the company’s home port of Livorno, on the Tuscan coast. Damen delivered all the vessels from stock;completing the final outfitting works within a timescale of three and a half months. This current delivery to Fratelli Neri consists of three different vessels. The first, an ASD 2913, was built at Damen Shipyards Galati. This vessel sailed from Romania to Italy on her own keel. The other two vessels – a Stan Launch 1305 and a Stan Tug 1606 – were being held on stock at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in the Netherlands. Damen transported these two workboats to Livorno on a heavy-lift vessel.

First Damen Tug for Fratelli Neri

Fratelli Neri S.p.A has taken delivery of a Damen ASD Tug 3212. The new vessel, called Luisa Neri, was handed over from Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam in the Netherlands, on 25 January 2016. The vessel represents two firsts: it is Fratelli Neri’s first Damen newbuild tug and it is the first ASD Tug in the Mediterranean with a Damen render-recovery winch. Damen is renowned for its quick delivery times and this contract further reinforces that fact: the smooth process from contract to delivery taking just 5 months. With the vessel built for stock, Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam carried out the final outfitting works to bring the Luisa Neri up to client specifications.

Brazil Election Jitters May Hit Investments in 2014

Brazil's presidential vote will likely delay some investment decisions this year but spending on infrastructure is expected to remain strong, a senior government official told Reuters. Although President Dilma Rousseff is the favorite to win the Oct. 5 general election, many investors could withhold funds until the next government outlines its plans for the following four years, which could hamper the country's already slow economic growth. "It is obvious that businesses will delay some investments until after the election to have more clarity," said the official, who asked not to be named because he is not allowed to speak publicly.

ER Offshore Extends its GNSS Contract with Veripos

Under the new arrangement VERIPOS will continue to supply nine of ER Offshore’s PSVs with its VERIPOS Standard high-precision augmentation service providing metre-level accuracies. A further two vessels will utilise its latest VERIPOS Standard service, which offers an additional Glonass capability. ER Offshore’s two 86-metre AHTS craft, ER Luisa and ER Vittoria will also utilise the VERIPOS Standard service. All ER Offshore’s 13 vessels, which are maintained and chartered for worldwide operations, are already permanently equipped with configurable VERIPOS LD2 integrated mobile units. These generate any proprietary positioning solutions in addition to outputting data and measurements to external processing or quality control software.

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) is on track to deliver West Vencedor, the sixth of seven KFELS semisubmersible drilling tenders (SSDT) to Seadrill Limited before the end of 2009. The completion of this project on time and within budget, will top out a record year of 13 rig deliveries for Keppel FELS. West Vencedor is built to Keppel’s KFELS SSDT 3600E design which was conferred the ASEAN outstanding engineering achievement award in December 2009 for its eco-friendly features and sustainable operations.

Vessels: The Manitowoc Company Launches Second Staten Island Ferry

Marinette Marine Corporation, a subsidiary of The Manitowoc Company, Inc. launched the ferry Sen. John J. Marchi for New York City's Department of Transportation on Saturday, May 8. This 310-ft. ferry is the second of three Staten Island Ferries to be built as part of a $120-million contract that was awarded to Manitowoc in 2001. The launch ceremony featured Michael R. Bloomberg, mayor of New York, as the keynote speaker, with Mrs. Maria Luisa Marchi, Senator Marchi's wife and the ship's sponsor, performing the traditional christening ceremony. "This series of cutting-edge ferries demonstrates the strengths of our Marinette shipyard.
