MacArtney LARS for Fifth Asia Pacific Research Vessel

MacArtney completed its order of a launch and recovery (LARS) system for Taiwan National University, the fifth Ocean Research Vessel (ORV) in the Asia Pacific region to date. MacArtney Asia Pacific provided the full launch and recovery system solution for the new vessel R/V New Ocean Researcher 1 (ORV 1), including slip rings, cables and docking heads. The 1,000 GT RV was completed on July 21, 2020.Behind ORV 1 is the CSBC Corporation, which built the ship for end-user Taiwan National University. CSBC, owning two shipyards, is the largest shipbuilding company in Taiwan.

New Drill Ship Equipped with AHC Drilling Platform

Newly launched multipurpose drill ship FREJA integrates a high-performance active heave compensated drilling platform manufactured by MacArtney. The drilling setup on board the vessel has been designed to provide enhanced drilling conditions even in rough seas. A customized, motion-compensated working platform of 10 times seven meters is situated amidships. This means that the working deck remains stationary while the vessel follows the movements of the waves. The platform design includes a roll function compensating for the vessel rolls by +/- 7 degrees.

Antarctica expedition benefits from a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) winch supplied by MacArtney Underwater Technology. An icebreaking polar supply and research vessel is to map out underwater conditions in the icy waters in terms of subsurface and marine life. The winch system, which was acquired through Swedish SubSea Solutions on the part of University of Gothenburg, will be put to good use on board South African icebreaking polar supply and research vessel S. A. Agulhas II designed to carry out scientific research and supply to South African research stations in Antarctica.

MacArtney Underwater Technology supplied SubConn underwater connectivity solutions for the bow mounted sonar systems that are essential to the impressive undersea threat detection and response capability of the advanced FREMM frigates currently operated by the French, Italian and Moroccan navies. Okeanus to Represent MacArtney Group in Brazil

In its capacity as Focal - MOOG Components Group representative in Scandinavia and Holland, the MacArtney Group has recently passed a momentous system delivery milestone. Since the partnership was initiated, MacArtney has facilitated the sale and delivery of more than 40 Focal swivel solutions to offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels operating across the world. FPSOs are offshore production facilities that house both processing equipment and storage for produced hydrocarbons.

Australia Takes Tougher Stance on Container Stowage

The MacArtney Group announced the delivery of a CORMAC 4 Stainless Steel Winch system to the Institute of Geosciences at the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel. Special topics include an Ultra-deep track discussing current and prospective robotic technologies, plus a panel of scientists to consider research questions. UK Ocean Technologies Expo Biggest Yet

Ocean Business 2013 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton will welcome 300+ worldwide companies to its upcomeng show. One of the most exciting elements of the show is that visitors can actually see equipment in action and ‘test-drive’ products before they purchase. This year’s Ocean Business is running an unmissable programme of free training and demonstrations, running over 180 hours where leading companies will introduce new products, technologies and techniques. MacArtney Enable DCN Diving Project

DCN Diving recently contracted MacArtney to build & deliver a range of underwater technology equipment for use on a major project. DCN Diving had been called upon to perform a diver-habitat based inspection and repair of the inlet channels at a large European power plant. Critical projects like this often come with a challenging timeframe and this instance proved no different. One of the challenges related to the project was the extensive length of the actual inlet tunnels, which required the umbilical cable for interfacing the control room and the diver habitats to be almost 900 metres long.

MacArtney Offshore Relocates and Scales Up

MacArtney Offshore, the Houston operation of the MacArtney Underwater Technology Group, has moved into larger premises, from 4500 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft. The increased workshop size allows the company to accommodate larger service jobs, including medium sized winch umbilical spooling and terminations which now can be performed inside their secure premises. Cable mouldings, fibre optic terminations and the MacArtney Offshore slip ring repair facilities with Focal trained technicians have also been significantly expanded. Customer and project meetings will benefit from generously sized conference rooms and teleconferencing. Up to 30 guests in house and 64 guests worldwide will now be able to cooperate in meetings. The new location makes MacArtney Offshore more accessible to their customers.
