MacGregor Bags RoPax Ferry Deal

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received orders to provide linkspans to a customer in Scandinavia and a conversion project for two RoPax ferries operated by a Scandinavian ship-owner.The total order value is approximately EUR 10 million, said a pres release from maritime cargo and load handling service provider.The orders will be booked into Cargotec's second quarter 2019 order intake, with delivery of the MacGregor equipment between the first and third quarters of 2020.MacGregor RoRo provides solutions for a number of segments, two of which are port equipment and vessel conversions."The diversity of our offerings and flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions are important factors for our customers," said Magnus Sjöberg, Senior Vice President, Cargo Handling and RoRo, MacGregor.

MacGregor's RoRo Access Systems for Car Carriers in Japan

MacGregor has received orders from two Japanese yards to deliver comprehensive RoRo access equipment packages for four car carriers. The equipment will be delivered during Q3 in 2017. The orders are booked into the first quarter 2016 order intake.   The car carriers are built at two shipyards; two 7,400 CEU pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs) at Shin Kurushima Dockyard and two 3,000 pure car carriers (PCC) at Nakai Zosen Corporation.    "We have a proven record of reliable deliveries and excellent support and relationship with these Japanese shipyards," says Mattias Gunnarsson, Director of Sales and Marketing, MacGregor RoRo. "Our RoRo access systems ensure efficient and safe cargo handling operation of the vessels," Mr Gunnarsson adds.

MacGregor to Supply Cargo Access Systems for Mega RoRo Ships

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been contracted by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries to deliver RoRo access equipment packages for a series of two post-Panamax RoRo carriers. The vessels are under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for the Luxembourg-based operator CLdN (Cobelfret), with options for another three. Ordered as part of CLdN's fleet expansion and modernisation program, the 235-meter-long and 35-meter-wide vessels will reportedly be the world's largest commercial RoRo carriers. Each MacGregor RoRo access equipment package will comprise a stern ramp, internal ramps, bulkhead doors and four levels of hoistable electrically-operated car decks. The gross weight of the equipment is about 2,200 metric tons per ship.

MacGregor RoRo Access Systems for Grimaldi Car Carriers

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been contracted by Chinese shipbuilding group Yangfan to deliver comprehensive RoRo access equipment packages for a series of five post-Panamax 7,800 CEU pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs). The vessels are under construction for Italian operator Grimaldi Group, with options for seven more. The 200m vessels will be among the world's largest car carriers. They have been ordered as part of Grimaldi's fleet expansion and modernisation programme. Each MacGregor RoRo access equipment package will comprise a quarter ramp, side ramp, internal ramps, bulkhead doors and four levels of liftable car decks. The gross weight of the equipment is about 2,400 tonnes per ship.

MacGregor to Supply Package for RoPax Ferry

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a new contract from the Meyer Turku Shipyard for a complete turnkey delivery of RoRo cargo access and handling equipment for an environmentally friendly RoPax ferry under construction for Estonian ship operator Tallink. The 49,000gt, 212m long liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual fuel powered ferry complies with the latest strict regulations for emission control areas (ECAs) including the Baltic Sea. Designed to carry 2,800 passengers, it will operate on the shuttle route between Tallinn and Helsinki. MacGregor Access Equipment for 2 Cruise Ships

STX France SA has awarded a contract to MacGregor for the delivery of cargo and passenger access equipment for two cruise ships.   MacGregor said its turnkey delivery includes the design, production, delivery, installation and commissioning of tailor-made systems that include MacGregor doors, platforms, lifting platforms, ramps, hatches and power packs; a total of 51 items of equipment per shipset.   Lars Öberg, Sales Manager of MacGregor’s RoRo Division, said, “The cruise ships have been designed with maximum flexibility and efficiency in mind, and the seamless integration of MacGregor's access systems will enhance the operational efficiency."

MacGregor RoRo Cargo Access Package For Ferry

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a contract from German shipbuilder Flensburger-Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) for a comprehensive RoRo cargo access equipment package. It is destined for an LNG-powered RoRo ferry that will be constructed at the yard for the Australian owner, SeaRoad; an option remains for one more vessel package. At 181m, it will be the largest RoRo ferry with LNG propulsion and the first vessel of this type built by FSG. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2016. The ferry will serve SeaRoad's planned new regular liner service across the Bass Strait between Melbourne on the Australian mainland and Devonport on the Australian island of Tasmania.

MacGregor Wins RoRo Cargo Access Equipment Order

MacGregor has won an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea for the design and delivery of MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment. It is destined for a 180-meter logistics and support vessel (LSV) under construction at the yard for the Royal Norwegian Navy's Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO). The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2016. The order was booked into the second quarter 2014 order intake. "MacGregor's long-standing presence in South Korea and its relationship with DSME proved positive in securing the order," said Karl-Axel Persson, Sales Manager, RoRo Systems. MacGregor's scope of supply includes a side ramp/door, a hoistable inner ramp, two lifting platforms for cargo (forward and aft) and trunk doors.

MacGregor Wins Stena RoRo Conversion Job

MacGregor's conversion team is no stranger to the vessel, originally altering the ferry in 2008.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a contract from Stena North Sea Ltd. to convert the 29,800gt RoPax ferry Dieppe Seaways to optimize it for its new route between Dublin and Holyhead in Ireland. The order further strengthens MacGregor's position as the first choice supplier for RoRo conversions and was booked into the second quarter 2014 order intake. MacGregor's RoRo conversion team is no stranger to the vessel, which will be renamed Stena Superfast X, originally altering the ferry in 2008 to suit new operations across the English Channel.

MacGregor Wins Damen RoRo Contract

Each of the new ice-class ferries will be equipped with MacGregor bow doors, a bow ramp/door, a stern ramp, shell doors and a hoistable car deck system

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract from Dutch shipbuilding group, Damen Shipyards, for the design and delivery of key components for RoRo access equipment for two 80m ice-class RoPax ferries destined to operate in Canada. The investment in these new vessels is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government's vessel renewal programme. The first ferry is scheduled for delivery in 2015 and will operate on the Fogo Island and Change Islands service. The second is scheduled for delivery in 2016 and will operate on the Bell Island service.

China ConRos Order for MacGregor

Cargotec receives another large order for MacGregor cargo access packages for 5 Container/RoRo (ConRo) in China. Cargotec's MacGregor has received another large order, following the MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment order from South Korea announced on 6, March 2013, to deliver a total package of cargo access equipment for five new Container/RoRo (ConRo) vessels.The vessels are to be built at Hudong shipyard in China for the Atlantic Container Lines (ACL), which is part of the Grimaldi Group of Naples. The order includes MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment, hatch covers and cell guides for container lashing for five new fourth generation vessels of 3,800 TEU and with vehicle capacity of 1,307 units.

Cargotec Receives Large Order for MacGregor

Cargotec's MacGregor has received a large order to deliver MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment for five new 31,600 dwt Container/RoRo (ConRo) vessels from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea.   The vessels are destined for the Grimaldi Group of Naples and the delivery of the ships is planned for 2015.   "This order builds on the long-term partnership with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. MacGregor's advanced technology and quality as well as strong local presence played key role during the negotiations," explains Magnus Sjöberg, Sales Director for MacGregor RoRo. "The shipyard trusts MacGregor - we keep the delivery times and the shipyard gets our full support during order fulfilment as we have MacGregor site office at the shipyard," Mr Sjöberg continues.

Cargotec Secures Large MacGregor RoRo Order

In October, Cargotec received a large order to deliver MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment for four 45,000 dwt container/RoRo vessels for Italian container shipping specialist, Ignazio Messina & C. S.p.A. The ships will be built at the STX Jinhae shipyard in Korea and the MacGregor RoRo equipment will be delivered between the last quarter of 2013 and the second quarter of 2014. Each MacGregor shipset includes a quarter ramp, stern door, ramp covers and doors, division doors and a power pack. "RoRo equipment is an integral part of a vessel's cargo-handling capability," says Magnus Sjöberg, Sales Director for RoRo ships.

New MacGregor Orders for CargoTec

Cargotec secures MacGregor RoRo equipment orders for two Mistral-class ships. Furthering Cargotec’s reputation for specialist RoRo expertise, the company has secured a contract to supply and install MacGregor RoRo equipment for two Mistral-class naval ships. The order is booked during the fourth quarter of 2011. Cargotec signed the contract with STX France, which will undertake the construction of the ships at its Saint-Nazaire shipyard under a subcontract with fellow French yard, DCNS. The 199m multi-role vessels were co-designed by DCNS and STX. Cargotec’s delivery will include the design, hardware and installation of MacGregor RoRo equipment. The first ship will be delivered in 2014 and the second will be delivered in 2015.

MacGregor RoRo Equipment for Norwegian Ferries

Four new LNG-powered RoPax ferries, destined for service in the Norwegian fjords, will feature a suite of MacGregor RoRo access equipment from Cargotec. Cargotec Receives Cargo Access Equipment Order

In March this year, Cargotec received an order for MacGregor RoRo cargo access equipment for two multi role vessels under construction at the German yard P+S Werften in Stralsund for ferry operator DFDS Seaways. Both vessels are due to be delivered in the first half of 2012. The 3,000 lane-metre capacity newbuildings will also have room for 342 TEU on the weather deck, a special requirement of the Danish-German ARK project for the transport of military vehicles and containers.

Cargotec to Deliver RoRo Equipment

In June, Cargotec signed a contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd in South Korea to deliver MacGregor RoRo equipment for four deepsea ConRo vessels to be built for a Saudi Arabian owner. The contract includes 1600 tons of MacGregor equipment for each of the four vessels, including jumbo quarter ramps, stern doors, ramp covers, bulkhead doors, and two levels of hoistable decks and movable access ramps, all of which will be delivered in 2012-13.

Cargotec Delivering MacGregor RoRo Equipment

In October Cargotec secured two contracts worth around EUR 15 million for complete MacGregor RoRo access and transfer systems for deepsea Container/RoRo (ConRo) vessels. “Both of these contracts are for vessels that will carry general and project cargo, as well as various type of RoRo cargo, and this calls for specialist knowledge,” says Magnus Sjöberg, Sales Director for RoRo Ships at Cargotec. “Because of our in-depth understanding of RoRo access and cargo handling systems, we are able to deliver the most flexible and efficient designs possible.” One of the contracts is for a two-shipset repeat order, which builds on a four-ship equipment agreement that Cargotec won in June this year from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea.

Shipdex Protocol Ready for Use

The 4th Shipdex Conference took place at the MAN Diesel PrimeServ Academy in Augsburg, Germany on Feb. 16, where the Shipdex protocol was declared ready and available for use. Shipdex (Ship Data Exchange) is international business rules (protocol) -based and fully compliant with S1000D, developed to standardize the exchange of electronic technical data within the shipping community. The Shipdex protocol aims to ensure a high quality of technical and logistical data and simplify the exchange of data within the industry. For application service providers, Shipdex is a basic specification for implementing data interfaces from technical manual solutions to maintenance and purchase or any fully fledged ERP systems.
