Ship Repair: Vigor Wins LCS-4 Drydocking Deal

The U.S. Navy awarded the contract to execute the Drydocking Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) for the USS Coronado (LCS-4) to Vigor. Work will be performed at Vigor’s Portland shipyard.The award is the latest in a series of awards in Vigor’s growing Navy repair program and is Vigor’s first as prime contractor in the Littoral Combat Ship program. Vigor Wins $7.3 Mln Contract for USCG Icebreaker Maintenance

The U.S. Coast Guard’s polar medium icebreaker Healy arrived at Vigor’s Seattle shipyard in early January for maintenance.The $7.3 million contract includes sea valve renewal and overhaul, bow thruster modifications, ballast tank and underwater hull paint preservation and various machinery overhauls.The vessel will be at Vigor’s Harbor Island facility through June 2019.The 20-year-old Healy was built at Louisiana's former Avondale Shipyard and commissioned in 1999. It is one of two icebreakers currently in operation for the U.S. Coast Guard, along with 42-year-old heavy icebreaker Polar Star.

Keppel O&M Clinches More Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marin Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its subsidiaries, Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), has secured contracts worth $114.8m for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel conversion, a Derrick Lay Barge completion and the life extension of a semisubmersible rig. Tong Chong Heong, CEO of Keppel O&M said, “As market sentiments liven up, we are receiving more enquiries with some new contracts materialising in the last quarter of this year.

A&P Southhampton to Repair Sundream

A&P Group has won the contract to carry out repairs to the 22,945grt Cruise Liner Sundream at its Southampton dry dock facility. The ship, which is operated by Sun Cruises (part of the MyTravel Group), will arrive at A&P Southampton on 26th October for a scheduled 21 day dry dock and refit period. Work will include extensive tank repairs, blasting and painting of the hull and davits, shell door inspections, various steel and pipe work renewals, port tail shaft and stabiliser surveys as well as general machinery overhauls. The Sundream, which trades in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Caribbean, is the first Sun Cruises liner to dry dock with the A&P Group.
