New Pilot Boat Enters Service in Turkey

A newly built pilot boat Kara Yusuf, named after the owner’s grandfather, went into service on March 4, 2017 in Turkey. The boat will provide pilot transfer service in the southwest region of the Marmara Sea. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., of Vancouver Canada, the boat was built by ICDAS Shipyard in Turkey for their own use as well as for marketing to the pilotage industry. Designated as the RAlly 1600 class, the 16 m boat is constructed with a steel hull and aluminum deckhouse.

Dometic Marine Partners with Livos

Dometic to offer Livos machinery ventilation equipment to its yacht and workboat customers,  providing them with a single source for their air conditioning and ventilation needs. Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the RV, Marine and CPV (Commercial and Passenger Vehicle) markets, today announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Livos Technologies Inc., a provider of engine room ventilation equipment and systems for the commercial and pleasure boat markets. Under the agreement, Dometic will become a reseller of Livos Technologies’ axial fans, centrifugal blowers, smoke and fire dampers, mist-eliminating grilles, and electronic fan controls.

Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with SeaAmerica Cruise Lines, Inc., based in Hollywood, Fla. Under the MOA, LSS and SeaAmerica will develop a ship design leading to contract negotiations for the construction of two 42,000-ton, 1,000-passenger cruise ships. The program will include options for two additional ships. Construction of the ships would utilize both of Litton Ship Systems' production facilities, Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and Litton Avondale Industries in New Orleans, and would maximize the resources and experience of both shipyards to achieve operating synergies.
