Scania USA Expands Territory for Mack Boring

Scania USA Announces Expansion of Marine Territory for Distributor, Mack Boring & Parts Company. Effective August 1, Mack Boring & Parts Co. will assume additional marine territory in the Great Lakes Region of the United States to include Northern Illinois and Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Ohio and Wisconsin.Mack Boring & Parts Co. currently represents Scania’s latest marine platform: 13- and 16-liter engines used for various propulsion and auxiliary applications including fishing vessels, passenger vessels, and pleasure craft.

MTEA Launches New EPA Tier 3 Marine Engine

Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America, Inc. (MTEA) announces the introduction of a 684 hp at 1,800 rpm (510 kW at 1,800 rpm) engine that complies with EPA Tier 3 regulations. The new S6R-Y3MPTAW-1 model is a propulsion-certified unit ideal for heavy-duty workboat repower applications, such as with tugboats, cargo ships and offshore vessels. It’s a high horsepower, high displacement and high mass solution that achieves Tier 3 compliance in a fully mechanically controlled package.

The origin of the Mack Boring business name dates back to 1922 when Ed McGovern Sr. founded the company. His nickname was “Mack” and “boring” was one of his thriving machine shop specialties. The company is now under the fourth generation of uninterrupted McGovern family management. Blaney Joins Mack Boring Marine Transmission Center

Jim Blaney, formerly president of Aquadrive Systems, Inc., has joined Mack Boring & Parts Company of .  The announcement was made by Mack Boring Co-Presidents Ned and Steve McGovern. He will become business development manager for Aquadrive products at Mack Boring's .  Blaney introduced Aquadrive products to the marine market more than 25 years ago. Utilizing precision CV joints and thrust bearings, Aquadrive systems connect marine engines to any type of drive on most vessels. They reduce vibration and noise while eliminating alignment problems.  Many leading builders have used Aquadrive products for years, including Hinckley, Pearson, Fleming, , Hood, Caliber, J Boats and Zodiac.

Mack Boring, ECTI Offer Diesel Classes

The growth of diesel engine use in the marine industry has created a need for basic education and hands-on instruction for owners who want to do their own repairs. To address this need, Mack Boring & Parts Company and Engine City Technical Institute offer one-day basic diesel seminars and two-day diesel engine courses at three locations. The one-day sessions are designed to help owners become familiar with, or update their knowledge of Yanmar diesels. The two-day classes cover basic service and emergency repairs, along with hands-on instruction. Instruction during both classes includes the identification, removal and replacement of basic lubrication, fuel, electrical and cooling system components.
