Vigor Delivers Los Angeles' New Pilot Boats

The Los Angeles Pilot Service has taken delivery of two customized 56-foot Camarc Design pilot boats built by Vigor Industrial at its Vancouver, Wash. facility, located on the northern side of the Columbia River. Mackay Communications Inc., a worldwide marine electronics and airtime service provider, has announced it has signed a partner agreement with Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT.L) to distribute its award-winning Fleet Xpress service to the global maritime market including deep sea vessels, commercial fishing, oil and gas, defense, and cruise-passenger lines. Mackay will offer a complete end-to-end Fleet Xpress package including the full range of Fleet Xpress airtime service options and choice of approved antennas.

Mackay Acquires CMC’s Marine Business

Mackay Communications, Inc. acquired CMC Electronics’ commercial marine business on October 30, 2015, from Canadian parent, Esterline, a supplier of aviation systems. Esterline divested their marine sector to concentrate efforts on its core aviation business. CMC Electronics’ maritime brand traces its roots to the Canadian Marconi Company (CMC); originally the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of Canada. Mackay Communications’ Marine Division is a turnkey supplier of communications and maritime electronic solutions and global service. More than 100 USCG Vessels Install KVH mini-VSAT

A fast-response cutter of the U.S. Coast Guard is one of several classes of cutters with KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband systems onboard as the connectivity solution.

The ongoing maritime VSAT installations are part of KVH’s 10-year contract with the U.S. KVH Industries, Inc., said it has surpassed the 100-vessel mark in its 10-year contract to supply the next-generation satellite communications solution for the U.S. Coast Guard’s fleet of small cutters. To date, KVH’s TracPhone V7  systems have been deployed on 105 USCG vessels across eight different classes of cutters, and KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband service has provided 29.2 terabytes of data and more than 835,000 Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) minutes.

Mackay Marine Expands: Texas, Panama

Mackay Marine, a division of Mackay Communications, Inc., has expanded its operations with the opening of two new marine-electronics service locations in Corpus Christi, Texas and Panama City, Panama. The addition of these facilities, coupled with the opening of Mackay Rotterdam BV in May 2009, gives customers 15 U.S. locations, two Mackay International service centers, and 90+ international marine service agency affiliations to choose from. Oscar will be based out of our Mackay Marine-Houston Depot. Oscar brings extensive sales experience from the wireless technology industry, mobile workforce management, software/platform and hardware solutions, test & measurement instrumentation along with complete broadband services communications. Mr. Solis has held positions with Sprint as a Regional & Channel Sales Manager providing all three major product portfolio offerings. In addition, he has also served as the Regional & Latin America Sales Manager for Itronix Corp.

Mackay Attains Raytheon's Field Service Locations

Mackay Communications, provider of communications and electronics equipment and services for the maritime industry has acquired Raytheon Marine Company's seven U.S. field service locations. The addition of the Raytheon business - four on the east coast and three on the west coast - expands Mackay's presence to all include all major U.S. ports. The new locations will operate as part of Mackay, which is the wholly-owned service division of Mackay Communications. For support of Raytheon's customer base, Mackay has hired Raytheon's factory-trained marine technicians, and has made a substantial investment in spare parts and equipment inventory of marine technicians.
