Following a long journey from Thailand, an offshore substation built for the massive Dogger Bank offshore wind project in the United Kingdom arrived at Aibel's yard in Haugesund on Saturday, aboard BigLift Shipping's heavy transportation vessel BigLift Baffin.The substation is the first of three platforms that Aibel will deliver to the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank, which is located in the North Sea, 130 kilometers off the Yorkshire coast.The platforms…

Aker Solutions Makes Management Changes

Aker Solutions announced organizational changes in its Subsea and Products & Technologies business areas. It also announced changes in the company's executive management team. The changes involve an integration of Aker Marine Contractors, Aker Well Service and Aker Geo into the Subsea business area. In combination with our ownership and cooperation with Aker Oilfield Services, the new structure will also leverage our well intervention services offering. Until now these business units have been part of the Products & Technologies business area. In addition the drilling riser business will be transferred from Subsea to the Products & Technologies business area to further strengthen our drilling solutions.

Aker Kvaerner has a Breakthrough Order in China

Aker Kvaerner won a contract by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for delivery of drilling equipment and system for an ultra deepwater drilling semisubmersible unit. The contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $128 million. "This first delivery of drilling equipment systems into the Chinese offshore market is a breakthrough for Aker Kvaerner. We are very pleased that CNOOC has chosen us and are committed to execute this project to a high quality and on schedule," says Mads Andersen, executive vice president in Aker Kvaerner. The contract is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The scope of work is to deliver drilling equipment package, installation and commissioning supervision.
